I fully believe Trump will smash the authoritarianism button harder and harder as he feels the midterms wipe out approaching, I'm less sure that doing so will prevent or mitigate said wipe out
It’s a nasty thought to verbalize because people can & will continue to get hurt and die, but the administration continuing to smash the button in their current incompetent way is pretty close to best case scenario for radicalizing the normies and big picture Better than if they discovered restraint
