- Was discussing my goals and plans and work with my manager recently and the topic of applying for some of my own funding came up but between my career stage, the Royal Society changing eligibility for ECR grants, and merger chaos/funding round cancellations, there are essentially no options for me
- The current reforms of the research system are now on track for another failure. They double down on mistakes that undermine long-term growth, well being & safety. We must ask for accountability and transparency about three key issues as we go into the election year. scientists.org.nz/news/13593197
- And while I don’t feel like that situation threatens my current job stability, there will be other incredible researchers that we have and will lose soon, and who knows what that means for the next parts of my career
- I didn’t, and don’t, feel particularly strongly any which way about the merger, but was and continue to be sceptical of the implementation This government is economically vandalising our science and research sectors, which were already incredibly underfunded
