"And even as we produce much excellent work, we too often write from one perspective, for one slice of the audience."
The fact that WaPo's executive editor wrote this today illustrates that its leadership still does not understand that they are entirely responsible for destroying the Post.
Feb 4, 2026 20:56There is a kind of myth that altering the kind of journalism a news outlet does will enable that outlet to reach people of all political views. It’s no more than a myth in the time of a personality cult. Those in the cult mostly don’t read, and are enraged by content critical (even by implication)
…of the cult’s leader. Those not in the cult are offended by the constant affirmation the cult demands. There is no way to reach everyone. I’ve heard varying explanations for Bezos’ behavior, but when all this is over he will bear the stigma of having destroyed The Post alone.
Jesus, he sounds like that dude from CBS Evening News.
Major News Organizations: We've been way too liberal by reporting facts. That's gonna stop now.
The contempt for readership was always there on the Opinions pages, but the publishers were just genuflecting to power and never had the will or wherewithal to destroy the news division. Now they do.
It’s hard to express my scalding hatred for these people.
What a mess. To "be qualified" for an executive editor job, and be this unaware is a contradiction in terms
Maybe this person should resign since they're out of there depth
