- As ridiculous as it sounds, that it what top juniors / U23s are worth these days. I'm pretty sure AWP is on a similar salary. Same with Seixas. And 1 million isn't even that much nowadays. A lot of riders are on 1mil. That's about 1/30th of a decent WT budget. It's no longer just a superstar salary
- That being said, I'm not sure that's the smartest move by Ineos, since there is no guarantee he'll pan out. But if they want to take a gamble on young talent, then that's the price you have to pay nowadays, unless you discover the rider before they break through, which wasn't the case here.
