Three rules in FBI firearm training:
1. Always point your weapon downrange
2. Do not point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot
3. Don’t put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot
Guns are not for threatening compliance for unarmed people doing things you don’t like
Strangely enough, even me, an Aussie who has never held a firearm in her life, in a country with strict gun laws, knows these three rules because my father (a war veteran and army reservist) passed on their importance. I find it staggering that armed agents are incapable of these basic precautions.
