Small adventures in history, nature and science...(with some other stuff thrown in for good measure)!

- 📖 First book read from my #40by40 list. I'm still mulling over my thoughts...it was great, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it!! I almost think it could be better on a second read-through. I definitely need a bit of a palette cleanser now!
- Time to start my #40by40! I made a list of 40 books I aim to read by the time I hit 40 years. They either scare me (for various reasons) or I feel like I'll never read them otherwise. No books I've read previously & no duplication of author. Any words of warning/encouragement are welcome! 😅

- 1/2 On my way back from my last event of the year - the annual @hutton.ac.uk symposium where we had a networking poster for @crew-waters.bsky.social. 🙌🏼
- 2/2 I'm still thinking about the final ⚡️ talk of the day. We were introduced to #VirtualWater, the hidden water used to grow the food we import. Especially important when thinking about crops from areas facing severe #WaterScarcity (e.g places in Spain now desalinating seawater just to irrigate!).🤯
- Reposted by Amy CooperHave you had chance to take a look at our new @sefariscot.bsky.social crop booklets yet? 🥔 tinyurl.com/EnhancingCro... 🌾 tinyurl.com/ResilientCrops They're the perfect excuse to take a coffee break!
- Touching grass before settling in to 8 hours of screen time! 🍄🟫
- The perfect late autumn afternoon. 🌊 I should absolutely be taking more dooks in the sea!

- Several years ago, at my @eastbio.bsky.social PhD interview, I was asked to talk about a paper from outside of my field that interested me. I can't remember what my answer was then, but I definitely know what it would be now!! 🐀 🐀 🐀 Too cute...and of course important!
- Dirty Sanchez! 🫒 Tequila, Noilly Prat, olive brine and an olive. ...I don't want to hear anything about it being a Monday!
- Just about decompressed from the @sefariscot.bsky.social & ScotGov Scotland's Global Food Security Conference! I had a fairly minor part in the organisation, but oh boy, was this a big event to be involved with! If you're interested in finding out what was discussed take a look at #FoodSecurity25

- Autumnal Sunday run. 🏃🏻♀️
- The best #AuroraBorrealis I've seen. 🙌🏼 It didn't look quite like this to the naked eye...but these are unedited pictures. Honestly spectacular! #Aberdeenshire
- My current gaming obsession! #HollowKnight I'm not technically a 'good' gamer and normally throwing myself into boss fight after boss fight and taking hours of practice to beat some of them isn't my jam...but there's something about this little guy that keeps me playing! What a dude?!

- Normally I post for one centre of expertise ( @crew-waters.bsky.social or @sefariscot.bsky.social ) at a time and I rarely post on LinkedIn! ...but the 46th TB Macauley Lecture on Doughnut Economics felt like an opportunity to shake that up. 🍩 www.linkedin.com/posts/amy-co...
- 🎥 My first (but hopefully not last) time climbing Arthur's Seat. #ExploreScotland #VisitEdinburgh youtube.com/shorts/L8wfb...
- What an awesome graphic?! I love a cosy evening/morning...I just wish that the period of dark cosy hibernation was shorter! Last winter felt like a long one. #Aberdeenshire

- #StormAmy My namesake storm!!
- 🚨 Storm Amy is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to North West England from Friday 3 October. 💨 Winds could reach 50–60 mph & heavy rainfall may cause localised flooding, especially in rivers and low-lying areas. What to do if #flooding is expected: thefloodhub.co.uk/am-i-at-risk...
- Well, I never imagined I'd find myself enjoying a lecture about economics! Prof Kate Raworth was super engaging for her talk on #DoughnutEconomics for the 46th TB Macauley Lecture. I also had a tonne of great conversations at the @sefariscot.bsky.social stand. Huge thanks if you stopped by!
- I've been informed that I'm actually just a massive townie! 😅
- Maybe I've got selective memory but this has to be my first 1.5 degree September morning since living in Aberdeenshire. 🍂 Brutal! 🍁
- When you revisit a museum 30 years later & finally get to try the samples… 🍎 The @museumofcider.bsky.social in Hereford was so much bigger than I remembered, although it probably has changed a lot! The basement area was especially impressive. ...we did leave with 2 bottles of perry in hand! 🍐

- Two very different 5 ⭐️ reads one after the other! The 1st a cosy fantasy romance and the 2nd a literary dystopian...I'll let you figure out which one's which! #Booksky
- Sandend is one of my favourite campsites just for how easily you can access the sea. The non-electric pitches have a pretty much uninterrupted view of the beach. Majestic!!
- The Auchmacoy doocot (dovecot) is a beehive dovecot built in the 17th century and supposed to be one of the finest examples of its type in Aberdeenshire.
- Can't believe it took such a long time to visit bow fiddle rock! What a stunning spot to explore? #VisitMoray #ExploreScotland
- The Lonach gathering is always a treat.
- Smooth pea gall wasp. 🌱
- The #couch25k programme trains you to run for 30 mins which only got me to 4km...so this week I had to see if I could make it the extra km! It honestly feels like such an achievement!
