- Since Friday we've given out over 10,000 masks to people affected by the tornado and to volunteers helping with sheltering, cleanup, and supply distribution.
- Areas the tornado hit are some of the most actively disinvested in neighborhoods in the state, and unfortunately that pattern has continued in relief efforts. The north side needs resources, now.
- We are working to get masks to anyone who needs them to protect against tornado lung (issues caused by the dirt and debris in the air post tornado) and the airborne diseases that will spread in crowded shelter situations.

- We are fundraising $6,066 by 1/16 to purchase 84,480 3M auras from a government auction for Mask Blocs Chicago, St. Louis, Urbana-Champaign, and Springfield MO! Our goal is to raise $6,066 to purchase the masks and distribute them among our blocs.
- Any money raised beyond what is needed to secure and distribute these masks will be shared among participating blocs! Based on our calculations, this will come out to $0.14 / mask or LESS!! In the event that we are unable to purchase any masks, we'll refund all donations through the GFM platform.

Note: filtration material doesnt expire on masks, just the elastics do. So if it still seals, it still works!

- Hello community! We’ve noticed that Blox duckbill masks sometimes get holes around where the elastics attach, as they stretch and pull away from the seam. It doesn’t happen on every mask, but please check your masks to see if they have these holes. 1/2
- We strongly recommend fit testing with your Blox masks that have this happen to see whether this affects the seal for you (for some it seems to, for others not). We are working to get more information and will update as we can. 2/2
- Note that Blox states that as long as the holes are within the outer seal area (the textured edge), they should not affect filtration. If you have noticed otherwise with a fit test, please let us know so we can communicate that back to them.

- Masks arrived in St Louis today! From here most will travel on to Minneapolis, Chicago, Champaign-Urbana, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Cinncinnati, Kansas City, Nashville, Knoxville, and Tulsa!

- We are fundraising with other blocs to purchase 288,000 3M 9501+ KN95 masks from a government auction! Our goal is $9,000 for the bid price, fees, and shipping from Virginia to mask blocs across the country. That puts the price at about 3 cents per mask!
- They will go to maskblocdc, maskblocnyc, MaskBlocStLouis, cripfutures513, maskblocnova, FightCovidNOLAand co, vidsafecu, to be distributed for free to our communities.
- If we don't win this auction, we will look into others, as many institutions have been auctioning off their ppe stockpiles recently. If we don't find another auction opportunity in a timely manner, funds will be reimbursed through GFM.

- Monday March 4 was Covid Memorial Day. We can think of no better way to honor the dead and fight for the living than to make high quality respirators accessible to all people free of charge.
- That’s why on Monday March 4, MaskBloc STL, MaskBloc LEX, Maskbloc Cincinnati, and a wonderful human from Louisville, KY traveled 876 miles to transport 77,740 N95 respirators to our communities to give away FOR FREE!

- The auction got more popular than we expected, but we did end up purchasing 77,440 3M Aura respirator masks! And we are funded to get them from the auction back to StL. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! This is a huge win for us (and a few other mask blocs we're sharing with)!
