PhD candidate, Germanistik @ Universität Hamburg | Leo Baeck Fellow 2025–2026
Research focus between Comparative Literature & Jewish Studies | Jewish 3G poetry, poetry film, space, mobility, cultural memory, visual culture, multilingualism and translation
- Started the day with giving a seminar on the topic of Script & Digital Poetry — and discussing all things aesthetics, materiality, kinetic and static script as well as motifs of digital/analog memory writing processes in poetry film — a pleasure! Thank you to Dr. Esther Kilchmann for inviting me!

- When one's research interests find a home in a handbook one cannot help but shamelessly plug and provide some links! "Cultural Memory Studies" www.degruyterbrill.com/document/doi... "Audiovisual Poetry" (co-written with Antje Schmidt) www.degruyterbrill.com/document/doi...
- I’m also very happy to have contributed one chapter on "Cultural Memory Studies" – with a focus on transcultural poetry – and another on "Audiovisual Poetry", the latter which I had the pleasure to co-write with @antjeschmidt.bsky.social – joining the many other insightful pieces in the Handbook! 🧚
- I'm thrilled to share that "Poetry in the Digital Age: An Interdisciplinary Handbook" is out! It brings together a range of perspectives on poetry parameters, formats, practices, debates & more – and is available in open access via the link below: @poetryda.bsky.social @degruyterbrill.bsky.social

- Question to fellow international researchers in these times of deadlines and applications: how do you navigate being between/in several academic (cultural/linguistic) spheres? Especially when it comes to applying for positions/fellowships/research stays? Any advice, thoughts, similar questions?

Framför allt gör jag ett försök att koppla samman AI-frågan här och nu med en sedan länge existerande andlig robotisering i universitetsvärlden, en robotisering som föregriper de stora språkmodellernas utbredning.

The University of Texas-Austin is beginning a process to eliminate the Black Studies, Latino Studies, and Gender Studies departments in the College of Liberal Arts. This is a grave threat to the educational liberty of students, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas. 1/

- Visited Bucerius Law School on Wednesday to see Eva Illouz and Natan Sznaider in a thought-provoking and very direct conversation on October 7th, its aftermath, (lack of) compassion, antisemitism, and the discourse on Israel and Palestine in the humanities since the 1960s. #harbourfrontfestival

- Today is officially my last day in Poetry in the Digital Age (@poetryda.bsky.social)💜 Being part of the project for the last 3 years and having the opportunity to research Jewish 3G poetry and poetry film in such a focused way within its frames has been immensely rewarding and a great privilege!
- My very warmest thank you to the team as well as our fellows and everyone involved! It is very hard to summarise three years into one post but I have learnt so much from our collaboration and exchange – I certainly take everything with me to the next chapter and am so excited for what's to come🧚♀️

- Attended Grainy Days 16mm Festival (@ Metropolis Kino) tonight to watch several of Maya Deren’s films! New discovery: “The Private Life of a Cat” (~1946) — a docu (if one may call it that) about domestic cats that feels very much like a predecessor to cat memes/clips (lots of kittens on screen!)
- Should add: really enjoyed it (the whole retrospective but also “The Private Life of a Cat” in particular). The film includes a voice-over and text, written by Deren, which I wasn’t expecting but, then, on the other hand it turned out to be something other than a poetry/poetic film. Very witty!

- Have unlocked a new late night hobby, that is scouring bluesky for people and accounts to follow – can recommend
- Uni Hamburg and HfBK: Tomorrow I will be screening and discussing stagings of space, memory and identity construction in poetry films by Jewish third-generation directors and animators — students and faculty are welcome to join in
- Had a wonderful 5 days in Greifswald! Thank you to @eckhardschumacher.bsky.social and the team for organising the summer school — and for the productive and inspiring conversations throughout!

- Finally heading to #Greifswald ahead of five days of summer school! Looking forward to being in conversation with others equally obsessed with conceptions and configurations of time in contemporary writing. Bringing poetry and poetry film from Sweden with me (naturally!).
- So excited to be attending the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival this year again! Am really looking forward to tonight’s screening and the programme for the coming days! 🦓 @hausfuerpoesie.bsky.social #zebra #poetryfilmfestival
- Today’s bookstore find: Collected Writings on Film by Maya Deren (2005). Stumbled upon it at the St George’s (English) Bookstore and the timing could honestly not have been better. Do I feel that way every time I come across anything related to Deren’s films or film poetics? Yes, absolutely.
- And yes, that is T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets peaking out from underneath (also acquired, after weirdly looking for it for ages despite it being published by Faber&Faber hmmm).
- Guiding words for my bluesky are apparently becoming academic lifestyle blogging — As such! This Vormittag’s view for preparing a talk on poetry film for the summer school on ”Schreibweisen der Gegenwart. Zeitdarstellung und Zeitreflexion” at the end of the month at @unigreifswald.bsky.social!
- First stop of the festival (and last stop before turning in) — Claudia Rankine’s reading of ”Writing as Seeing” at #AkademiederKünste
