- [CW: Abuse] Went on a musical rabbit hole and realized Kesha's artist bio on Tidal explicitly calls out Dr. Luke for his abuse, and yet even after everything that's happened, the guy still works in the industry, has won awards, and presumably collects streaming revenue at least for songs he wrote.
- He's written a lot of songs I really like, but I don't stream them anymore because I don't want to give that piece of shit a single cent.
- A+ loaf.
- I would love to ship some #zines this week to folks interested! Did you know I have seven different zines available on my webstore? Some are whimsical, others serious, all made by yours truly from my weird little heart. US only, free shipping. payhip.com/akivaleewrites
- Last night I learned the recipe for this cute snowflake bag. #acnh
- Sorry for all the serious posts today. Here's 151 Walker caught in a moment of unusual clarity on the cams during an August evening. #katmai
- Seeing folks react to the news with "Wait, it was literal Nazis all along?!" is deeply exhausting as someone who has been yelling for a very long time about antisemitism being core to the far-right mindset. Antisemitism is a thousand+ years old and the core belief is that some lives matter less.
- That the leaders of the modern conservative movement looked at the Holocaust and went "good, more of that" should not be a surprise to anyone because antisemitism is ancient and, crucially, it has taught these people to regard some populations as inherently worthless. This affects ALL marginalized.
- A few weeks before my grandma died in Oct., she said to me, "Trump is ruining this country." This is a woman who was a war orphan, for whom the US was her only escape from the abuse she suffered under the hands of her oppressors, whose family died in Auschwitz. I read these stories and think of her.
- Did she know the full history of US oppression and imperialism? Of course not, she was an immigrant with no education (she was forced out of school age 14). But she knew that immigrants deserve safety the way she had it. It broke her heart to see other immigrants treated like dirt.
- So I'm grappling with this weird sense of bitter relief that she didn't live long enough to see the news coming out about these concentration camps. I don't know how she would have coped. I know this is a weird facet of grief. I'm trying to channel it into action, because she would be proud of me.

View full threadI wish everyone had more immigrants in their lives, so they could see how much immigrants are an integral part of this country. When my grandma came to America, she found safety in her Dutch Jewish immigrant community, and as she spent her final days, she found safety with immigrants again.
- I personally disagree with WAISN's stance on whistles but I'm seeing a LOT of people calling them an op and I just want to point out that WAISN is a legit org run by trans women immigrants. I trust their good intentions even if I disagree with them.
- It is important to me to remember that there is no blueprint for this exact moment, and that activism is complicated by individuals. I wish WAISN had not taken this stance, but some of the responses I'm seeing utterly miss the reality of what this org is.
- Lunch break means #acnh time! FINALLY got the Able Sisters shop on my island so I have a brand-new outfit.
- Every time I see a cool thing Zohran is doing (so like every day) I'm like hey that's us!!! If you like his policies, that's DSA! You can join and support the work being done by folks like Mamdani!
- Here in Washington we also have our very own Shaun Scott, representing the 43rd district (Seattle's U District and nearby neighborhoods) in our state legislature! I highly recommend following his political career as well. @organizewithshaun.bsky.social
