Me when people tell me Batman is a billionaire who beats up the poor
the worst part about reading comics is inevitably you will run into people who don't read comics and think a comic is +bad for the wrong reasons
batman is a closet case who project his psychosexual neurosis onto thee fetish totem of a leather bat drone suit
*finishes setting pieces on the chess board*
so anyways Batman is also a metaphor for crossdressing & the psychodynamic causes of most fetishes.
Bruce Wayne created the batsuit as a fetishistic totem, facilitating the displacement of his repressed desires & traumas onto an object, a symbol.
See this I can fuck with! I just think he's *also* still interesting when people don't reduce him to Frank Miller and the Arkham Games.
he’s far more interesting as a class traitor against the wealthy with severe pathological avoidance & delusions of grandeur.
“billionaire who beats up poor people” is just tony stark after a martini. boring.
Oh I have thoughts about Tony Stark and how especially in the MCU he is a man driven by self-sacrifice, protectionism and heroism as a form of self-harm that is never addressed because he is more useful to people when he burns himself alive and ultimately kills himself for them.
"I am iron man" was a heroic victory over Thanos and it was the ultimate expression of self-harm by a man who was told in no uncertain terms that no happiness or personal growth was not worth sacrificing for the greater good. He didn't get to die as Tony Stark, the father, but instead as capeman.
I take this stuff way too seriously lol
