Why is making adopts so hard?? On one hand, I want to draw something that I will enjoy, on the other, I keep thinking that the things I enjoy are not unique, and that therefore, my designs wouldn't be fit for adopts.

my counter point for this is im p sure one of the most popular adopt makers i saw on dA was like. just doing the same hairstyle on all the designs with the same palettes, tho idk how intentional that was LOL having broad appeal w adopts is a good thing imo!

Oh wow XD I didn't know that was thing. It's hard to explain, but I've been really wanting something that just clicks with me, but alas, the vibe hasn't come to my brain cells yet.
