- Imho, the bond market won't resist any of the five profiles currently considered by the Trump administration for Fed chair. The eventual test of the bond market resolve to act as the vigilante protecting the Fed independence would be if the Supreme Court allows the firing of Lisa Cook
- One important caveat: If you're hoping the market will resist a Hassett nomination, think again. The bond market will need to see hard evidence that Hassett is taking a political action that would risk an inflation spike. Just pushing for big rate cuts won't do it. Any reckoning is at best deferred.
