- Yo dawg we put Spaghetti on your spaghetti
- Come to San Jose! We have: • The Arena • The Winchester Mystery House • The Darkness
- Me: There are basically three "utensil traditions": Western utensils, chopsticks, and using your hands. Foods from a given cuisine will be well-suited to the utensils they favor, and chopsticks were originally invented due to- Angry Mayonnaise Comedian Brad Stine: Chopsticks are dumb and primitive!
- China actually developed chopsticks because a wood shortage led to them chopping food into smaller pieces so it could cook faster, and they had forks, knives, and spoons long before that. The world in just so much more interesting if you have even a tiny but of curiosity about things.
- I learned about this stuff because in Memes of the Prophets I created a new utensil tradition for the Eitalethi (forest elves), where they use a wooden spoon and tongs, which together they call a "taveol," though using both at once is considered a little gauche.
- Here's the taveol I put together IRL with wooden spoons and toaster tongs from Amazon, though the elves would complain about the wood types not matching. I was loosely inspired by the Korean sujeo, a set of chopsticks and a metal spoon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sujeo
- Wonder Man establishes that the Apple TV+ series Severance exists in the MCU, which makes me wonder if like someone at A.I.M. or Hammer Industries would see that and decide to Build the Torment Nexus.
- The question "Which superheroes would be in the Epstein files?" popped into my head and I think I need a break from superhero stuff and/or the news.
- In the world of The Boys, a ton of supes would be in the Epstein files, but that's what happens when you're in a world that Garth Ennis came up with.
- Upon hearing about Epstein, Rorschach resolves to go to the island and do what he does to pedophiles. Nite Owl tries to talk him out of it, but he goes anyway, only to have Ozymandias stop him.
- A lot of Pizzagate types are crowing about being vindicated, except (1) the issue is bipartisan in the worst way, and (2) it turned out to be powerful people being awful, not Satanists/Illuminati.
- The last human baby walked right out of the AD&D 1st Edition Monster Manual.
- I got a book of old cat food advertising graphic design and I'm not sure what to make of the quotation marks around "DAD'S" CAT FOOD.
- I added an "Amusements" section to my Etsy shop, which currently is all 3D-printed fidget clicker toy thingies that use key switches (specifically Gateron Phantom Blues). www.etsy.com/shop/WeirdLi...
- An artist I know (Sue-chan; sue-chan.com) surprised me with the first ever Memes of the Prophets fanart! #isekai Featuring: * Galatea, the shy sapphic disaster * Langella, apologetic holy scribe * Alyssa, stressed-out summoner * Amadeus, sword-obsessed weirdo * Erica, just trying her best okay?
- The @372pages.bsky.social podcast is doing their first #LitRPG novel, "Mayor of Noobtown," which makes me feel good about my own #isekai novels (Memes of the Prophets) and less good about how well a book called "Mayor of Noobtown" is selling in comparison. 372pages.com/372-pages-ep...

- I spent around 90 minutes on the road running errands and visiting a friend today, and it felt like there were people in my blind spots the entire time. Not a good day for me to be driving apparently. Also it's kinda bonkers that blind spots in cars are just something we live with.
- I have an online friend who works at a clinic, and apparently they're trying to do an AI chatbot for handling prescriptions, and it's going about as well as you'd expect, except it's screwing up and lying about filling orders for medications people need.
- Aside from all the other issues, generative AI just isn't good enough for any task where accuracy is important. It might be some day, but it wasn't that long ago that it totally failed to handle McDonald's orders.
- The Epstein emails are *also* a reminder that our “elites” aren’t actually exceptional people, and in fact rich people are so coddled that it makes them dumber.
- I didn’t know Melania is Slovenian until I read a movie review that mentioned it, and now I’m imagining every article about her being read aloud by Slavoj Zizek. youtube.com/shorts/E8vyo...
- Been vibing to “Salt the Earth” by Lionheart. Wikipedia calls them a “beatdown hardcore” band, and they have this amazing ferocity. WHEN THE NAIL BECOMES THE HAMMER youtu.be/OF2CP6xIsRc?...

- I'm making another attempt to try to learn about marketing, in the hopes of getting my novels to more people, and again I find it mind-boggling that I combed through the Business section at Barnes & Noble and found no actual books just about marketing (but several on stuff like NFTs).
- Apparently here in the Bay Area we have a Batman who is a lot clearer on what the stakes are with ICE than entirely too many politicians. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKEB...
- Still thinking about this quote from Zizek: “But in a radically atheist universe, you are not only responsible for doing your duty. You are also responsible for deciding what is your duty.” I think I've decided that my purpose is to write books that advocate for a more compassionate world.
- Like, Memes of the Prophets isn't a power fantasy--if anything I may have overdone it trying to keep Erica from being a Mary Sue--but rather a tale of finding belonging and trying to make the world a better place.
- In the story Langella says, "Earth is a world that forgot how to change for the better," and I hope that isn't actually true, but it sure feels true. I truly hope we can prove that wrong in the near future.
- There are a lot of people who seemingly can’t accept the possibility of anyone sincerely disagreeing with them.
- I came across the original thread, and seriously, O'Keefe's audience just cannot accept that a person could sincerely oppose ICE's brutality without being paid and/or brainwashed. American culture has ignored and denigrated collective action for so long some people refuse to even believe it exists.
- I really liked Wonder Man. It takes place in the MCU, but it's about an actor trying to get his dream role and ending up also forming a bond of friendship and learning how to be a better person. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgox...
- Also they have DeMarr Davis a.k.a. Doorman in an extended flashback, which is the second time they used a Great Lakes Avengers character (Mr. Immortal was in She-Hulk) so now I want to see Flatman, Dinah Soar, Big Bertha, Good Boy, and of course Squirrel Girl, but we'll have to wait and see.
