Work in politics. Here to provide political and societal witticisms…or the closest equivalent I can manage. Mainly UK, European and US politics, although I’m an equal opportunities satirist.
Also an amateur - and slightly experimental - cook.
- Looks increasingly difficult to see how Starmer survives this, especially if Rayner is (potentially) now turning against him. He won’t want to, but he must surely now need to throw Morgan McSweeney under the bus if he wants to save himself…
- Maybe we could do something really bonkers like investigating all MPs (and persons of influence) and whether they - or their contacts - may be Russian assets. Mandelson, former PMs who appointed sons of KGB agents to the Lords, party leaders who have appeared on Russia Today/openly admire Putin…
- Wholly legitimate for Starmer to face questions about what he knew about Mandelson and Epstein, and when, and his judgement about appointing him at all. Wholly ridiculous for the Tories to be demanding release of all documents, regardless of harm to national security/intl relations, though. #PMQs
- An unserious policy from an unserious party led by an unserious politician - but one that could have serious consequences for tackling poverty and for children and families across the land. These people just cannot be trusted with power. www.politico.eu/article/refo...
- Just fed up of these absolute fucking traitors. All of them - Andrew Windsor, Peter Mandelson, Nigel Farage - seeking, one way or another, to exploit or sell out this country and its people for their own benefit every fucking chance they get. Enough. Absolutely fucking enough.
- FT exclusive Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor discussed ways round restrictions on his making investments while an official UK trade representative and shared official documents from the role with Jeffrey Epstein, files released by the US Department of Justice show www.ft.com/content/6b2f...
- Seriously, both sides need to make every effort, and exercise maximum pragmatism, to make this work. If European countries can’t agree a relatively straightforward deal like this, there is absolutely zero hope of Europe ever providing a credible alternative to NATO. www.politico.eu/article/uk-k...
- Good. Still getting extradited when the time comes though, pal… www.bbc.com/news/article...
- I mean, it can happen to anyone really. I frequently forget when terrible human beings send me multiple, separate payments - especially when I’ve also visited them multiple times and then forgotten to mention that too. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
- Absolutely right to be reducing rare earths dependence on China, but doing so by increasing dependence on the US would be a pyrrhic victory. Any agreement with Trump is worthless. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
