Today's 6th Brexit Anniversary for these observing. It's been pivotal to my life. I am the demographic Farage used to fearmonger, a poorly integrated East European immigrant on benefits. After the election, my family, and other migrants, faced increased xenophobia and uncertainty. But I prevailed. 🧵
Brexit trampled career planning, security, and home for tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of immigrants. Their personal tragedies fell on deaf ears. As reoccurring conversation in press and public focused on holiday queues and passport colours, rather than victimised and vilified diaspora groups.
The lack of horror, panic, mass outrage or support from native Brits was felt across various minority groups. Shocking. The country couldn't be that comfortable with systemic racism and xenophobia, could it?
I got really fortunate, I benefitted from British welfare system. And hope I paid it off with hours of community work and outreach, and promoting British natural and cultural heritage. From far reaches of Scotland to beaches of Dorset. Despite the despite.
I stole your jobs, and plan on stealing more. And I wish happy barely-integrating to all the UK-residing immigrants.
