My ongoing challenge is to walk up big hills. Random thoughts. Old school, the banality of life. occasional breakfast tweets. rachelc at flickr blog.bibrik.com Works in British baseball/softball
- I'm not sure Saudi quite have winter clothing sorted!!! #winterolympics
- Home at last!!! 24 hours of travel. A shower first!. Then see if I have anything to eat in the house..
- So nearly home. 2 more trains and then my lift should be ready to pick me up
- Great. Big delays at Marylebone. Hoping they sort soon as I really don't want to drag all these bags to euston.
- Dragging all the bags to euston :-(
- I have about another 5 hours of travel ahead. So breakfast first.
- Morning world. Landed in Heathrow an hour ahead of schedule (which of course means there's no stand for us yet). Breakfast before I tackle the trains home.
- Ok, travel thread begins. Although likely to be short as transfer times are not long! Plane 1 is boarding. First flight is about 90mins. Then 90mins in Atlanta. (Better than the 7 hours on the way out)
- Ohh. In air time is only 58 mins. So quick up and down. And the flight attendant has one of most southern accents I've heard to date.
- Arrived in Atlanta. Next flight is scheduled in 2:40. So time for food!
-
View full threadI have taken the plane pyjamas too though. I tend to wear them as base layers for home working in the cold.
- Daytona beach airport has 6 gates and 1 eatery. Myself and fellow student got here 3 hours in advance...maybe a little excessive (checkout time at hotel and nowhere to hang around there)
- Extras i'm taking home: New bag. 2 sets shin guards. 2 masks. 1 pair trousers, 2 sets shoes, 6 new tops. Additonal indicators, lineup card holders, trousers for colleague.
- Morning world. Will finish packing before starting what will be just under 24 hours of travel. Car, plane, plane, plane, tube, tube, train, car.
- First time sleeping solo in 2.5 weeks. My roommate was excellent, we were compatable, similar sleep times, both tidy. There are stories of those young southern boys who failed at roommates!! Showers? Laundry? Remembering the toilets used for movements?? I pity those who had those sharing!
- There were a substantial number of young adults (almost all from the southern states) who had obviously never spent time away from home. From their hotel behaviour to their reaction to women who answered back. I hope they take away positive ways to behave.
- I have been paddling
- Assessment feedback done. Results are "average", as in on par with majority of students. I got good comments about quickly adapting after arriving 2 weeks into a 4 week course. I am actually very happy about that.
- Morning world. All we have today is a feedback session. Then packing to be done. Not flying until tomorrow.
- Lots of hugs and tears all round as the umpire school closed its doors after 50 years. With the MLB changing how it recruits umpires, the school can no longer feed into the system. End of an era.
- Well, I have successfully completed my "professional umpire training" in the "rules, plate and base mechanics of the Two Umpire System". This is recognised globally as one of the best.
- Morning world. Last day at fields. Gradution ceremony and awards.
- These 2 weeks have been so active I've dropped 2 belt holes.
- Turns out that some of the students got tattoos last night. Referencing a specific rule. (IYKYK)
- Our car journey also involves stories of poker and hook ups. Me.and my roommate are far too old for this shenanigans
- Morning world. Looks like we have a later start today due to frost. Last few days
- 1850 on sunday evening. My roommate and I are tucked up in bed watching telly.
