Whatever you're going to do, do it where it makes an actual difference
Washington DC
The No Kings protest was nation wide--but you've hit on something there. Something that would compete in the news cycle, in the same town. Because you know, headlines & clicks are bread n butter to Trump. June 14 falls on a Sunday. Localizing it to DC would count some out--I'm 2000 miles away.
The thing is...
The first No Kings was great. Good turnout, nice start
But I got angry every time some idiot said "look at Korea! Why can't you stupid Americans get off your asses..." that literally the entire population of the ROK is three hours or less from Seoul by train.
We can't do that
Feb 5, 2026 05:41which is why 50501 made sense at first
But afterwards I thought about it - the NE Corridor is the same population as the ROK, and connected to DC by rail. Amtrak from NYC to DC is less than 3 hours. Acela line is even faster. We could totally do a Seoul and it would mean something
Next big march happened beginning of July, while congress was passing the Billionaire Bootlicker Bill. I screamposted GO TO DC, NOR'EASTERS, YOU CAN BE THERE BY LUNCHTIME but I'm a nobody, so
people got to make noise hometown downtown, and it was pointless. Lost in the noise in less than a week
No one who *needed* to be yelled at was in Central Park; they were three hours away in DC selling out the American people with no pushback
It broke my heart from a thousand miles away because there was fuck all I could do on my own. I'm just another crazy person on Bluesky
NK #2 happened at the
same time Congressional Democrats were gettin ready to let the government reopen without healthcare subsidies guaranteed.
Now? shit, if there were a march on DC the regime would try to shut the trains down and haul in the military. It's not easy to do anymore. But it's still just as important
