- just want to update this for my own oomfs (and anyone else I guess) Affinity Photo is effectively dead but lives on as Affinity (a combined program of affinity's previous portfolio). it is free but for how long I don't really know. Pixelmator while still otp recently went partly subscription-based-
- with the launch of apple's creator studio (abt 13 quid a month or 130 yearly). I bring up these changes 1. to update the status of these apps and 2. to raise concerns - both are now owned by big corpos (Canva, Apple) and changes could be made at any time to enshittify the experience. it does also-
- concern me how affinity has a big shiny AI mode button on the top of their ui (adobe also had it on the bottom toolbar though tbf), I feel of which is incredibly contradictory to the mere concept of a program like affinity for *human* creativity, but ai gotta be shoved down our throats somehow
