- I was listening—RElistening, actually—to an episode of the John Brown Today podcast, and Dr. DeCaro mentioned that this biography of Brown is very good. "It's probably out of print, but if you find one in a used bookstore, pick it up." Got the only one at goodreads.com (way better than Amazon)
- Malcom X entered activism through his parents, who were advocates of Marcus Garvey. Malcolm advocated working within our communities to bring about change, but when asked if any white people should be allowed into the Organization of Afro-American Unity, he replied, "Maybe John Brown.”
- John Brown was a so-called radical abolitionist, but that is a misnomer. “Radical” referred to his multiracial organization. Brown was invested in the Constitution and the Golden Rule and all people created equal: treat folks as you'd like to be treated. #johnbrown250 #America250 #pushingtherock
- Happy Main Luther King's Day. This speach excerpt is part of his "Letter from Birmingham Jail," worth reading at least once it year.
