- "Sons of Mogh" gets a lot of credit for making bold choices, but there's no getting around it...they miss for me. I've always been disappointed by the characterization of Kurn in this story. Some solid dramatic moments are undermined by an especially off-balance ending. Score: 2.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Dreadnought" is another solid spotlight for B'Elanna Torres and Roxann Dawson. A well crafted, smoothly executed pressure-cooker, which forces Torres to confront her (recent) past self. Dawson carries much of the drama on her own and does a great job selling the tension. Score: 3.5/5 #TrekRewatch5
- How would you rank the last batch of episodes I've watched as part of #TrekRewatch5? 🟣 "Maneuvers" 🔴 "The Sword of Kahless" 🟣 "Resistance" 🔴 "Our Man Bashir" 🔴 "Homefront" 🔴 "Paradise Lost" 🟣 "Prototype" 🟣 "Alliances" 🟣 "Threshold" 🔴 "Crossfire"
- My rankings of this run of #StarTrek episodes: 1️⃣ "Homefront" 🔴 2️⃣ "Paradise Lost" 🔴 3️⃣ "Our Man Bashir" 🔴 4️⃣ "Maneuvers" 🟣 5️⃣ "Alliances" 🟣 6️⃣ "Crossfire" 🔴 7️⃣ "Resistance" 🟣 8️⃣ "Prototype" 🟣 9️⃣ "The Sword of Kahless" 🔴 🔟 "Threshold" 🟣
- "Return to Grace" works nicely as an extension of "Indiscretion", and puts Dukat into the forefront, with new shades defining his mentality. Nana Visitor and Marc Alaimo are in top form, but their dynamic here isn't quite as compelling as it was in that prior episode. Score: 3.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Meld" is full of fascinating ideas which take full advantage of #Voyager's premise. The exploration of Tuvok's ability to accept a murder without motive is expertly handled and Tim Russ delivers a richly layered performance. Brad Dourif is memorably singular as Suder. Score: 4.5/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Crossfire" is a mature adult story dealing with human, universally relatable situations. It's restrained and intimate, but it doesn't pull its dramatic punches. The complicated Odo/Kira/Shakaar dynamics are center stage, but Quark's scenes with Odo are equally impactful. Score: 3.5/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Threshold" calls for way too many logical leaps with its initial premise, and the insane turn of events spawning from it overwhelm the character notes explored for Paris. I admire the bold step into body horror, but this never settles into a comfortable groove with it. Score: 0.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Alliances" is firmly rooted in foundational #Voyager concepts and principles, and works to deeply explore both Starfleet and Maquis philosophies in a crisis situation. That backbone gives a wide swath of the cast strong material. Full of effective twists and surprises. Score: 4.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Prototype" is powered by an appealingly almost retro science fiction premise, and provides a strong showcase for B'Elanna. Not every production element completely succeeds, but I do jive with the throwback nature of the story and with Roxann Dawson's great work here. Score: 3.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Paradise Lost" ups the ante from the first half on both the action and character drama fronts. The performances continue to be great, and the tension mined from the threat to Earth pays off in all kinds of ways. Some of #DS9's best stuff can be found in these episodes. Score: 5.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Homefront" is a brilliant and distinctive #DS9 entry. An earthbound thriller exploring specialized and foundational elements of this series, while staying firmly rooted in grounded and relatable family drama. Avery Brooks and Brock Peters are both toweringly great here. Score: 5.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- Watched it a second time tonight and yep... it's fucking great. Can't overstate how much I loved every single ounce of this episode.
- "Vox In Excelso" is #StarfleetAcademy's first thoroughly EXCELLENT episode. I loved this depiction of the Klingons, and the new layers of world building confidently added to the mix. Equally balanced big picture broad strokes with intimate and impactful character moments. Top of the line #StarTrek.
- #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy ranked though 4 episodes: 1️⃣ "Vox in Excelso" 2️⃣ "Kids These Days" 3️⃣ "Beta Test" 4️⃣ "Vitus Reflux"

- While I thought “Vitus Reflux” was the least successful #StarfleetAcademy episode thus far, I ended up enjoying it in the end. Felt like the first half was a bit bumpy and leaned into tones that I’m still adapting to, but I appreciated the lessons and character growth driven home in the back half.
- While we’re seeing these lessons told through the lens of Starfleet Academy, and they’re being absorbed by youthful characters, the substance of what’s being explored is as important for more aged individuals to consider. There’s plenty of value here for those with even slightly open minds. 🖖
- Lastly, I’d REALLY like one of those hoodies.
- My favorite movies from 2025 not nominated for a single #AcademyAward “Sorry, Baby” “28 Years Later” “No Other Choice” “Eddington” “Twinless” “Urchin” “The Plague” “Eephus” “Black Bag” “Materialists” “Lurker” “Hedda” “The Baltimorons” “The Mastermind” “Nouvelle Vague”
- The nominees for Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards 🎥 #Oscars
- I'm not totally done with 2025 new releases yet, but I'm confident sharing a pretty tidy list of 25 films I loved from 2025. I've seen 180 new releases from 2025 to date, and should top out between 190-200 when all is said and done. What are your favorite movies of 2025? 🎬🎞️🎥
- Movies are my favorite thing in the world, and this annual best of the year video essay is a major highlight of my year. David Ehrlich's love for cinema is unmistakable and his inventive editing touch is jaw-dropingly great. Check it out and be inspired to watch these great films!

- 1995 contained 19 weeks with two episodes of #StarTrek airing side by side. This included episodes from #DeepSpaceNine Seasons 3-4 and #Voyager Seasons 1-2. According to my #TrekRewatch5 scoring system, #DS9 won 14 weeks to #VGR's 5.
- "Our Man Bashir" is a flashy stylistic flourish and so rooted in Bashir's core character values, laying key foundations for things to come, which makes it an essential episode. I can't get enough of the boisterous performances and the audacious commitment to the bit. Score: 4.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Resistance" portrays a horrifying and all too familiar fascistic society, while building a poignant and emotionally affecting center with Kate Mulgrew and Joel Grey's deeply felt performances. It's not especially briskly paced, but the dramatic punches land as intended. Score: 3.5/5 #TrekRewatch5
- One of my favorite instances of hearing someone talk about an episode in a way that made me re-consider and recontextualize... @treklive.bsky.social: "It's built just like a Klingon Opera" in response to me giving the same review years ago. So smart, so spot-on and it makes me respect it more!
- "The Sword of Kahless" is a little on the bombastic, unsubtle side for my liking, but there are charming elements mixed in here. John Colicos is delightfully big as usual, and I enjoy the early Worf/Jadzia chemistry. It's a bit much, but it wears its heart on its sleeve. Score: 2.0/5 #TrekRewatch5

- "Maneuvers" is a tense and memorable thriller, built on the back of Seska's cunning and clever psychological combat with Chakotay. I think this features some of Beltran's best work of the series, while the exciting and cinematic visual style works to elevate the episode. Score: 4.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- My controversial #StarTrek opinion that I'm slowly coming to terms with... the numbers and individual episode scores don't lie. I really like the Kazon. They power a clever, ongoing storyline woven across two seasons, emphasizing strong character development for Janeway & Chakotay and Seska rules.

- "Little Green Men" is #DS9's most successful Ferengi comedy, taking a brilliant concept and executing it to perfection. It's breezy fun, loaded with pointed and expertly calibrated pieces of social commentary. The actors are in complete command of every comedic moment. Score: 4.0/5 #TrekRewatch5
- "Cold Fire" is a key entry, given the direct follow-up to "Caretaker", and the exploration of Kes' burgeoning abilities. The horror tones are reasonably effective, if a bit redundant to other surrounding episodes. Not stylistically distinctive, but undeniably important. Score: 2.5/5 #TrekRewatch5
