- Poppy’s got a little dark stripe running down his forehead all of the sudden. These pictures were taken five days apart. Where are you getting more pigment from, cat?
- It’s definitely fur coming in in this color, not a smudge on his head or anything like that.
- Current working hypothesis: Poppy may have some Siamese genes in him. Secondary hypothesis: He's working on a Jerry Only cosplay.
- After a week's break due to being too cold to paint in my basement, I have another bunch of finished figures I can show off: thepaintingchallenge.blogspot.com/2026/02/from...
- Obviously didn't sleep much during the convention because Fun! People I Love! but really struggling with sleep post-convention; Sunday into Monday I slept fine, but Monday night and Tuesday night were short on sleep and I'm aware of how much it's exacerbating the depression I was already feeling.
- Some of it's as simple as "Poppy decided 3:30am is Scream For Food Time" but a lot of it's also that I don't ever really exit a state of hypervigilance; some of that's The Horrors, but I think a lot is also just from being a caregiver to an ill spouse.
- I relaxed enough over the weekend that now my nervous system is screaming "YOU LET YOUR GUARD DOWN! HANNIBAL IS AT THE GATES!" and over-correcting in the opposite direction. Which, y'know...feels bad, man. I'm working on using the tools I have from therapy to try and rebalance myself.
- The post-convention drop is hitting me extra hard in the wake of this year's Running GAGG. spritesanddice.com/features/aft... #6 on the list of reasons why one might feel depressed after a convention is the big one for me, I think.
- He’s trying to convince me that I forgot to feed him this morning. Since I was gone for so long, I must have forgotten, right? He sits on a throne of lies.
- I have a CD player again! Now I can have tunes while painting without keeping my phone in easy reach or hearing ads. And it plays cassettes too!
- Home from another successful Running GAGG. I feel so loved and supported in the wake of this con every year - and I would stay for a Sunday game but being away from my wife is wildly destabilizing. We might try to bring her down next year weather permitting.
- A couple hiccups - no hot water at the AirBnB on Saturday morning, the GM for one of the games I was scheduled to play in was a no-show, the bakery under the AirBnB's wares didn't taste as good as they smelled. Big whoop. RG weekend is the best weekend of the year and has been for me for 20 years.
- My annual Garbage Plate. And the owner of Kelly’s Irish Saloon recognized my group of rascals from past years and bought us a round.
- Gave my sales pitch to probably a dozen people, but no takers for a game. Foot traffic through the lobby is reduced this year - all the miniatures games were under- or not-attended compared to previous years. All good - we do this for the love of gaming, not for any one given gaming session.
- Packing my stuff up now, just saw off the guys who’d brought Badgers & Burrows. This just gives me more time for food and the charity auction.
- I’ve had a bunch of people do a double-take and ask if the doughnut shop is furnished on the inside. I feel bad I haven’t had a chance to do the same for the rest on the table.
