- Legislation to ban scramblers from public roads and parks comes to Cabinet today. We cannot allow them to continue causing trauma and injury in our communities.
- Constructive meeting with Commissioners Serafin and Hansen as we prepare for the Irish EU Presidency this year. We discussed the next EU budget and the essential need for a robust CAP. Also spoke about intensifying our work on making Europe more competitive and innovative.
- Interesting report from Ember shows that wind and solar are powering ahead, generating more electricity than fossil fuels across the EU for the first time. Ireland is moving in the right direction and Government is fully determined to keep up the momentum.
- The last week has been devastating for many people who have seen their homes and businesses severely damaged by flooding. I wanted to come today to meet those impacted and hear first-hand of their experiences.
- I also wanted to thank the local communities, local authority staff, Civil Defence, Irish Red Cross and other volunteers for their unfailing and relentless work to keep people safe.
- I want to assure that all government departments and response agencies are fully focused on protecting properties and alleviating flooding to the greatest extent possible over the period ahead.
