Chris
Creaking middle aged gamer, trying to get the pile of grey painted before my eyesight deteriorates too much.
- First games club night of 2026 and I got in a couple of games of Space Weirdos. First time I've played; against a 7yo on his first visit to the club who then mercilessly pulverised me. He brought his Ultramarines so I put some Tyranids to the test. He had a great time, which was the main aim!
- We didn't play the full rules so as to keep it manageable for him, but I like the interactivity and the high dynamism of the system. Not so keen on the amount of die rolls that that dynamism requires, though. But as a quick play, easy learn, mini agnostic system, it gets an initial thumps up from me
- First model of 2026 ready for the table. Weathering etc must wait until the army is all done, pressure's on to have 3000 pts ready for an event at the end of Jan. #HorusHeresy #Warhammer #Mechanicum
- I think I'd like to post more about my hobbies and gaming. And I'm starting with something positive. About six months ago I went to a nearby gaming club. I didn't know what to expect, and I feared that it would be full of the kind of gamers that I don't enjoy being around. I was so wrong.
- The people there were kind and welcoming, and I've been going regularly since. My son has also started to go and also loves it. And it's driven a real change in my hobbying.
- So the club hasn't just been a huge positive in terms of meeting great people and having fun playing games with them, it's helped me with the hobby side as well, by giving me that extra focus.
- I am announcing a review into the number of people who have been diagnosed as being "eighty". There never used to be so many 80 year olds and it's probable that they're simply 50 year olds who have misread their age. When we correct this glaring error, we'll save billions on welfare.
- One of the days I always look forward to in the calendar, the start of the English Test match cricket series. Disappointed that the selectors didn't cheer up us cricket stattos by picking S or T Curran, to have an instance of brothers playing international cricket on opposing teams. #EngvZim
- I understand Easter to be some sort of festival of new life and consumption. Which means it's only appropriate to be spending time with this ebay rescue Tyranid Hive Tyrant. Definitely a model where the solution to a poor fit was deemed to be more epoxy resin. #warhammer #minipainting
- My current mini painting project: expanding my Northwind Highlanders force for #battletech. Here's the long range fire support; a completed Awesome (left), a base coated Archer (centre), and a WIP Marauder (right). PPC heaven! Aiming to vary the base green camo schemes to keep me interested.
