Julie MB: an Autism Learner
Mom of two boys; one autistic, one nonautistic, special ed teacher, and doctoral candidate studying how autistic recommendations impact school supports. Are we learning from the true autism experts (autistics)? And if not, how do we change that?
- This is so sad but not shocking.
- Are recommendations made by autistic people impacting school supports? That's what my dissertation topic explores. If you are a special ed teacher in the US and might be interested in participating in my study please read my approved invite in the next posts. Interviews are lasting about 30 minutes
- Hello, my name is Julie Martin-Beaulieu, and I am a high school special education teacher and doctoral student. I am currently conducting a dissertation study on how recommendations from the autistic community are impacting the services we provide to autistic students in schools.
- I am looking for any special educator in the United States who works with autistic students in grades five through twelve who may be interested in participating. This would involve an interview over Zoom that would take approximately 60 minutes.
- If you are interested, or if you know someone who might be, please comment below or send me a private message. I am eager to hear your perspectives and thoughts about this topic! #autism #specialedteachers #dissertation #research
- Requesting some guidance from #actuallyautistic people. I teach HS and I have a few students who genuinely struggle with shifting and keeping their attention on things they are not interested in. This is beyond just "I'm bored".
- I'm hoping people might be able to offer me some guidance on how to help my students focus on things they need to but are not interested in at all. I am not looking for reward systems or anything like that. They all want to do well, it is not a motivation issue, it's a genuine challenge for them.
