- Reposted by AarthiRamanathan90% of writing happens away from the keyboard. In the shower. On a walk. In the car. Wherever you & your thoughts are alone together, that's when writing happens. If you find yourself stuck, staring at a blinking cursor, unable to find the words, don't be afraid to step away & find somewhere quiet.
- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanWritersky is talking about writers and ages again, so it bears repeating: there is no expiration date on writers except for death. Up until your last day, you can be writing, you can be published, you can be produced, you can sell. There's no "Too late." Only you can decide when your done.

- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanNo writer is a failure until they are dead. Full stop. A career in writing is built over decades. It's built like a house, brick by brick, book by book. Not published yet? Emphasis on YET. Book not selling? It's not selling YET. You're only done when you quit. And I don't think you're ready to quit
- DRAFT DONE!! SENT!!! 😎☀️💕
- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanWe have specific words for employed writers: Screenwriter, Author, Copywriter, Journalist, Critic, Editorialist. But if you write, you are a writer. Don't let anyone tell you - or even tell yourself - that you aren't a real writer until you are paid or published. I'm here to tell you that you are.
- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanIf you can't find the right word, put down the wrong one. Keeping your momentum while writing is more important than getting it right on the first pass. If you're worried about it sticking - BOLD the word & keep going. You'll notice those words right away while editing when you have time to process.
- When you proudly finish your first draft of 2025 and send to friends only for your brain to randomly come up with a few more things you now wish you had added! 😣 scriptsky #writingcommunity

- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanI think there’s a misconception out there that good writing means phrasing things in a way nobody ever has or would—that if a sentence feels familiar in the mind it fails. The opposite is true. Good writing is phrasing things in a way everyone has always wanted to and recognizes in their hearts.

- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanBook Recommendation: For the last of 2024, I highly recommend this breakdown of "what is scary" and "how does horror work." King breaks down dozens of films, TV shows, and novels to explain structure and what makes good horror. Yes, it's dated, but still relevant! Write on, folks!

- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanStop worrying that the pages aren't good enough. If they aren't good enough, you'll make them good enough when you edit. Sometimes, you have to see a thing on the page before you know exactly what it is supposed to be. The rights words often only come after the wrong ones.

- Reposted by AarthiRamanathanIf you’re getting notes on using “we see” / “we hear”: —You’re not using it well or too much —Your story and characters aren’t compelling enough yet. If a screenplay is compelling, you won’t get formatting notes, because formatting doesn’t matter when the writing is great.
