- Gonna spend the rest of 2025 touching grass. See you in 2026.
- Honestly embarrassed that Tina Kotek's campaign thinks I will give her a dime. Lose my number you absolute loser.
- Also even though we honestly had a pretty magical "first weekend of the Christmas season" weekend, I am so ready for preschool to start again that I could explode.
- Hiked in Washington Park and did Bike the Lights at the PIR today and didn't get into my car even one time.
- @profanity.accountant okay I don't actually have a guess here
- Reposted by emilyI need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/26/u...
- The most pure example of this is the guy on reddit who thought men were meant to do all bathroom activities with the lid up and has been sitting on the rim his entire life.
- Wait was he trying to say the socialist agenda which is national? That is such doofus behavior.

- Reposted by emilyBut look at this chart, from a CBO letter linked to in the article. People at top end of the income scale is getting a massive windfall, on the backs of people on the lower end. Oregon could and should plug the budget gap by taxing that windfall. Call it the Big Beautiful Surcharge. 3/
- TFW your toddler grabbed the business end of a kitchen knife and you're still in flight or flight 30 minutes later. She's fine! The knife is dull I guess!
- Only voting for whoever responds "sometimes I enjoy Nova."
- I've been thinking a lot about that viral post "I don't know how to explain to you why you should care about other people." Like I get it and I understand why it felt so compelling at the time. But also, like, we should figure out how to explain that. I think it will be really necessary to do so.
- Reposted by emilyWe ... are? And if you're not in those networks, you may want to examine your choices and think about why.
- "Good thing I don't even use Spotify," I say smugly as I remind myself for the second time today that I can't go to Starbucks because of the boycott.
- I know this is objectively funny, but it's making me so mad right now. This is terrible parenting! Please teach your children that experiencing sadness, anger, frustration, etc is not something that needs to be avoided at all costs.
- evergreen statement
- Reposted by emilySweeps are violence and it really is that simple. If you live in Portland and have a heart in your body please take the time to testify in person/zoom tomorrow or in writing and ask our city council to reroute money away from sweeps, which do not reduce homelessness. www.portland.gov/council-cler...

- Look all I want is for my city councilors to read my email, agree that the idea I have is brilliant, fast-track it, and give me public credit and perhaps naming rights. I feel like that's not too much to ask?
- People can't read and everyone is walking around already incredibly overstimulated and distracted by the dozens of screens and sounds we're subjected to moment by moment.
- Reposted by emilyWe’re seeing increased and aggressive ICE activity across the Portland metro region — including around sensitive locations like schools. Save the PIRC hotline on your phone and call/text if you witness ICE activity: 888-622-1510

- Reposted by emilyICE is active in D2 today. Please support your neighbors in the best way you're individually able to.
- I might have a good cry
- Reposted by emilyBREAKING: Colorado voters approved a ballot measure that would raise state income taxes on higher-earning households to fund free meals for all public school students. Follow AP for live updates.
- Reposted by emilythis is a reminder that we dont have to settle for newsom in 2028
- Reposted by emilyPreschool for All will offer free preschool to ALL families in Multnomah County by 2030. We cannot depend on unreliable federal funding or shrinking state programs. That’s why the Multco Board is ensuring PFA implementation is on-time and building a stable tax-base.
- Reposted by emilyClassic Dan Ryan: voting to refer the measure to the voters and then coming out against it, while [not entirely incorrectly] pointing out that the measure is only necessary due to the poor financial management at the Bureau he used to lead www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...
- A nice thing you can do for kids in your neighborhood is have one candy available on halloween that doesn't have any allergens in it. You can check by seeing if any allergens are listed on the label, if they're not you're good. Usually fruit candies are a good choice.
- Oh man, I have been in the "plaintiff's haven't argued it" position so many times. I had to argue for a summary judgment against a party who didn't show up and the amount of times I wanted to whine "but your honor, they're not even heeeeeeere."
- TBC that's what the judge should do. We're doing justice, not debate team.
- Reposted by emilyIt is not acceptable to quote random people in eastern Oregon as if their knowledge on the situation in Portland is in any way comparable to the many, many experts who have spoken out against this deployment. (And there is a Parenti quote for every occasion and I intend to find and use them.)
- Reposted by emilyI also hope we don’t forget all the local folks who’ve spent years spreading the “portland is a hellhole” narrative to gain short-term political power and/or social media clout. They provided ammo to the Trump machine. They fed the false narrative and now the chickens are coming home to roost.
- Reposted by emilyThe “stay home” rhetoric from the mayor isn’t ideal, but we can’t give Trump what he wants, a city resembling a war zone. Instead, we’ll make a greater impact by directly assisting our immigrant neighbors. We can make ICE work for their deportations force them to go door-to-door.
- It's like we all went through that exercise of remembering Mitch Hedberg's best bits so we could be prepared for today. Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience.
- I'm getting the opportunity to help with a pro bono thing and I'm really excited. Just this morning I was trying to figure out how to make more time to do pro bono work and it was like this perfect project just fell from the sky.
- I don't know about morality, but I do assume people who never pick up unknown calls are in a privileged position of not having to manage multiple family member's health issues. Doctors offices be calling all the time y'all! If I miss a call it's possible I missed a chance at an appointment.
- This is a subtweet of a stranger but if you cannot safely pass a pedestrian with a dog while you ride your bike on the sidewalk then you should dismount IMO. Regardless of the pedestrian and the dog's behavior, you are a guest on the sidewalk.
- Bank of America sends me an email that my payment wasn't made and I have to immediately update my autopay information. This makes sense because I closed the payment account. I call and they say the payment was made and they have no idea why I got the email. I ask if I can update my autopay info. 1/2
- They say no because BofA now requires you to make any auto payments from a BofA account which I don't have because fuck them they suck. So now I guess I just have to keep calling back until whatever system sent me the email catches up with whatever system customer service looks at? 2/3 actually
- And of course to even speak to a person I have to spend an interminable time talking to a robot that doesn't understand me even though English is my native language. I hate all banks. fin 3/3
- Reposted by emilythe main divide in portland politics is if you think we have a “livability” crisis resulting from high levels of unsheltered homelessness or a broader housing and cost of living crisis of which unsheltered homelessness is one symptom
- Reposted by emilyGifting your child a high-powered rifle is also an ideology. We just refuse to speak of it as such.
- I don't give my son more food until he's already eaten the food on his plate. Not sure why we're piling the police's plate high when they seem incapable of eating anything.
- I'm watching Gilmore Girls and Lane is complaining that her mom found a place to buy bulk tofu and has purchased an extra fridge in anticipation. It's funny because you always assume as you age you'll find you have more in common with Lorelai. But apparently I'm just becoming Mrs. Kim.
