You can choose between like half a dozen kinds of Fish Sauce at the store it's very funny that people consider it an exotic ingredient. It gets used for a ton of fish stews in the Mediterranean cookbook I got my mom lol. Worcestershire sauce is arguably more niche and exotic by all metrics!!!

Feb 5, 2026 20:09It really is hilarious that I have to mentally prime people for fish sauce by just saying "it's like Worcestershire" because Americans love being grossed out by fish for no reason!
Basically the only thing wrt fish sauce is that it stinky when you pour it out of the container and tastes funky straight up (just ate spoonfuls of fish sauce and Worcestershire for science) but it cooks out!!
