- Last session for November with 67 ringed including 4 new Yellowhammer & plenty of Reed Bunting. Tristis type Chiff, 2 Firecrest best from the tit flocks. Notable number of Mipits, Stonechats & Skylarks in the Rewilding fields. Vizmig; Snipe, Lapwing & Golden Plover & mix finch flocks over.
- Lovely productive mornings ringing produced nice mix of usual species for this time of year along with another Cirl Bunting. A 2nd bird also present in the rewilding fields. Several wintering Chiff, crests and a few thrushes made for enjoyable session.
- Fantastic day birding on Durlston head with smashing views of two Pallas’s Warblers. One showing well in woods west of the castle and 2nd bird in sycamores towards lighthouse area mobile with tits/crest flock. Excellent vismig with Snow Bunting, Woodlark, Bramblings, Redpolls and 2 Black Redstarts.

- Another busy day ringing on site 06am-3.30pm. 108 ringed & 3 controls! Control Firecrest (RCV), Chiff( RVL)+ Dutch Arnhem ringed Chiff (AVY). Outstanding vizmig over with 1000’s Woodpigeon, 100+Chaff & Thrushes. Small No of Brambling, Redpolls, Buntings /Pipits. 3 Hawfinch & group of 5 Woodlark.
- Super mornings ringing with a female Cirl Bunting trapped and ringed, 1st record for the site. Nice mix of Buntings, Crests and Tit flock ringed. A Pallas’s Warbler seen and heard very briefly 10am near ringing site didn’t show up in a net and no further sign, another first for here.

- Productive mornings ringing with 18 Reed bunting, 15 Lesser Redpoll and 5 Firecrest. Plenty of chiff and goldcrest still arriving. Single Ring Ouzel flushed early am setting nets. Vizmig over included Hawfinch, Brambling and 100+ Redpoll and a late Redstart seen in horse paddock

- A nice arrival of Goldcrest this morning with 42 ringed out of 113 ringed. Plenty of roving tit flocks around today and an increase in Robins and Thrushes. A Yellow browed W heard in non-ringable area didn’t materialise in nets. Overall a productive mid October session. Hawfinch/ROuzel vizmig over.
- Another busy mornings ringing in the Rewilding Fields produced 115 ringed including 58 Chiff and 27 Reed Bunting. A nice mix of species today also included Yellowhammer, late Garden Warbler and control Reed Bunting (AAD) were the highlights of the morning. Some good vizmig over
- Been a busy few days ringing on site. Todays session, 06-14:00pm, 165 ringed including 23 Reed Bunting, 20 Goldcrest and 7 Firecrest. Big fall of Chiff again ringed in good numbers. Good vizmig over with several flocks of Crossbill ( 30+), 50+ each of Redpoll & Siskin and 2 Brambling west.
- Super start to October with 164 birds ringed from The Rewilding Field nets, including 11 Reed Bunting, 8 Stonechats along with nice cast of warblers including late Gropper,Sedge, Whitethroat,15 Firecrest,12 Goldcrest & another strong passage of Chiffs. Bonus Nuthatch,Yellowhammer & retrap Kestrel.
- Reposted by CharmouthBirdObsYellow-browed Bunting trapped, ringed and released at the Swannery. It's flown to the hedge which runs alongside the Swannery grounds and the bird may be viewable from the permissive path heading west from Grove Lane.
- The last few days has seen a huge movement of Chiffchaff here in West Dorset, most birds seen moving East mid morning through to early afternoon. Today a much quieter session with 30+Chiff ringed takes me to over 200 ringed since last week. Ringing weekend so interesting to see if numbers continue….
- A big day for Meadow Pipits on site with 70 ringed. A fantastic mix of other species including Whitethroat, Sedge, Reed, Garden, Willow W, Gropper & Tree Pipits. Big arrival of Blackcap & Chiff. Large Hirundine flocks with several Swallows/House Martins ringed in the afternoon
- Blackcap season has arrived. Good numbers ringed over the past few mornings. Increase in Chiffchaff, Robins and roving tit flocks now on site . See what the week ahead has in store. #birdringing

- Very productive mornings ringing. Despite windy forecast turned out very calm on site and good numbers of Blackcaps on the move. 18 new Tree Pipits, singles of Grasshopper W, Garden W, Whitethroat, Sedge & Reed Warbler. Chiff starting to increase slowly and acros easing off now.

- Another superb ringing session this morning produced 72 new birds which 31 were Sedge & 9 new ReedW. During the week have ringed my 500th Sedge Warbler of the autumn. Absolutely amazing. Unprecedented numbers this year on site and bumper season for Acros. See what tomorrow brings….
- A slow morning today despite what seemed ideal fall conditions at first light. Decent cloud cover, sea mist and light drizzle gave way to very few birds from the nets. 1st and 2nd net round the best with new Grasshopper, Sedge and Reed W, Whitethroat and single Tree Pipit.
- East winds have arrived and with it plenty of Sedge Warbler this morning! Nice variety of species including Moorhen, Swallows, Tree Pipits and 5 Garden Warbler. Usual mix of warbler species, 75 ringed and couple of Sedge W retraps with big weights.
- Another excellent session. Slow to start but eventually got going with flurry of Sedge, Willow W (mostly adults) and Tree Pipits ( 18ringed). 2Gropper, 3 ReedW and several Whitethroats in the mix made for a very enjoyable session. Superb vismig of Tree Pipits over c150+
- A quiet morning today. 32 birds ringed, A small movement migrants mostly Willow Warblers and a few vismigging Tree Pipits heading west mid am noted. Otherwise definite clear out of migrants from last few days.
- A much quieter mornings ringing but very enjoyable 64 new birds. Once again Sedge W bulk of the birds ringed with 29 new, 8 Groppers, 11 Reed and singles of Whitethroat and Garden W. See what tomorrow brings….
- Absolutely outstanding session this morning. Big fall of migrants. 194 ringed, bulk Sedge, Whitethroat, WillowW & ReedW. Nice mix of other sp. Tree Pipits, Lsr White, GardenW & Groppers. 4 controls !! 2Sedge, 1Chiff and a Holland ringed Willow Warbler. Really chuffed!
- Another reasonable mornings ringing. 67 ringed mostly Sedge and Willow Warblers. 2 Tree Pipits also ringed. Singles of Spot fly and Redstart seen in horse fields. Finished early due to bright sunshine. No Gropper or Reed W ringed or seen.
- A lovely steady flow of migrant warblers this morning was a great start to August. Majority Sedge & Willow Warblers. 1st Tree Pipits of autumn. Observations include single Pied Fly, 12+Spot fly & juv Hobby mid morning. Green Sandpiper and Kingfisher on ponds.
- Nice session this morning produced 89 ringed. 32 Sedge, 5 Reed , 7 Gropper, 19 Willow and 4 Whitethroat. Bonus Green Woodpecker and Magpie ringed. Once again excellent catch of Acros for site. Very enjoyable session. See what weekend has in store then.
- Excellent ringing session in the Rewild fields today with 168 ringed comprising of huge record catch of 67 Sedge & 35 Reed Warbler. Amazing number of acros present on site today estimated. Also 11 Gropper, 18 Whitethroat & 24 Willow Warbler. July has been outstanding month!
- Autumn ringing off to excellent start for July. Local warbler sp showing signs of good breeding season. Some recent sessions showing some migrants are already on the move with Sedge, Reed, Grasshopper, Willow, Garden W and Whitethroats ringed & several Stonechats. Primary focus on acros for August….
- Great mornings birding in Forest of Dean / Wye Valley with a singing Wood Warbler, Firecrest, Hawfinch and drumming Lesser spotted Woodpecker. Single Pied Fly and couple of Redstart made for a brill woodland walk.
- Nice day out down on site where a decent arrival of spring migrants awaited us. Estimate 5 Redstart across whole site, 1 Pied Fly, 50+Willow W, Reeling Gropper, Whitethroat, Flyover Tree Pipit & Hobby in off sea. 2 Wheatear & a cracking male Whinchat from rewild fields made for great days birding
- Male Hawfinch perched up in my garden this morning was a nice treat. Couple of Chiffchaff and single Willow Warbler also moved through the garden. Decent flock of Redwing and single Fieldfare moved overhead and pair of Red Kite over.
- Stunning close views of the LONG BILLED DOWITCHER showing well this afternoon on Exe Estuary along the cycle/footpath towards Powderdam. Absolutely amazing watching this stunning bird feeding alongside Greenshank, Avocets and Godwits.
