- I loved the web in the 00s so much. So much creativity. Blogs popping up everywhere, new social media, web 2.0. Sadly it got broken by the web giants like Yahoo abnd Google, by buying everything they could get their hands on. The damage was two-fold. 1/n
- On the one hand they were poaching talented people, breaking perfectly fine working websites, or even outright shutting them down. 2/n
- One the other hand they instilled the whole of tech with the toxic philosophy of only aiming for the mythical 'exit'. Not building the best product, but making something with the only aim joining the millionaire or even billionaire class. 3/n
- I hate it. I've working in tech since the early '00s, but this is one of the reasons I've left the field. Here's to a world where billionaires don't destroy everything we love! 4/4
- A good reason to write about stuff you like is that it will invite people to recommend similar stuff to you. I wrote an article about my favorite weird cities, and people recommended @aptshadow.bsky.social's The Tyrant Philosophers series. A perfect fit! monstermind.substack.com/p/new-weird-...
- Nice video by @folkor.itch.io about game design, but more specifically about consistency and putting stuff out there. (video is about video games, but this is equally applicable to table top games) www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCSc...
- Rich dudes are so lame
- Finally got a copy of Cende's 2017 album '#1 Hit Single'. A melancholic poppunk master piece.
