- 🇫🇷🚲📦 🅒🅨🅒🅛🅞🅛🅞🅖🅘🅢🅣🅘🅠🅤🅔 The French term for cycle logistics was just voted word of the year by the Commission for the Enrichment of the French Language! Cargo bikes and cycle logistics are becoming mainstream in France, and this is just another sign of that trend. 👇
- 𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 won a poll to elect the term of the year, in which voters chose between 10 words, pre-selected from the 243 added to the French language in 2025. 👀➔ www.culture.fr/franceterme/... 👇
- 30% of the vote went to what the commission called, "A transparent term, constructed with a prefix ("cyclo-") understandable to all, whose victory testifies to a shared desire to live in more sustainable cities!" 👇
- There are now countless French initiatives, manufacturers + companies associated with cycle logistics. Want to find out more about developments around 𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 in France? Check out Les Boîtes à Vélo, the French cycle logistics federation ➔ lesboitesavelo.org #Cyclologistique

- Based on trials with 49 UK households in Leeds, Oxford, and Brighton, researchers reached several key conclusions about how cargo bikes generate "new" travel and the psychological motivations behind – and benefits of – their use. ⓘ Read the full study ➔ doi.org/10.1016/j.tb... 👇
- Some of the findings at a glance: 🆕 "𝗡𝗲𝘄" 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 ➔ 10% of all recorded trips were "new" – meaning journeys that would otherwise not have happened. ➔ Of these new trips, over half (56%) were taken for fun rather than function. 👇

- At ICBF 2025, Bouwer van Niekerk explains how his company STROOM uses chaos theory and human-centric design to introduce electric vehicles (e.g. cargo bikes) into South Africa, where 11.8 million township residents have limited access to delivery services, many of whom don't have driving licences. 👇
- Meanwhile, there is a lack of infrastructure, traditional electric vehicles are too expensive and 62% of 15-24 year-olds are unemployed. 👇
- STROOM brings ecargo-bikes to communities. Their approach looks at this 'chaos' and identifies hidden systems of self-organisation, patterns and order. Seemingly unrelated elements which, when connected, can combine to form coherent platforms. #DecadeoftheCargoBike

- 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮: meet Verral Paul-Walcott, founder of London-based community support group @c86erz In the face of sharp rises in rough-sleeping on London's streets, C86erz is stepping in to help bridge the gap with pedal power. Volunteers on bikes hand out essential items 👇
- Beneath a chilly December evening sky, around 100 volunteers gather in London with a diverse variety of bikes, from cargo bikes to commuter bikes with racks. They are here to take part in the Unity Ride, organised by C86erz every Christmas. 👇
- The riders fan out across the capital in groups to hand out food, sleeping bags, warm clothes and toiletries. “That first ride with cargo bikes was a game changer in terms of the amount you could carry,” says Verral Paul-Walcott, adding “Before that, it was just backpacks.” 👇
