Some green stuff, some nature, some cities, too much politics. I should less with the politics and more with the pretty photos.
- Fining bad drivers so that they’re maybe slightly more ashamed to deliberately drive their car at children (next tweet) is a pretty good traffic danger reduction system, I’d say.
- You know what, where people are assaulting children, yes you do need actual legal sanctions (even piddling little fines help) bsky.app/profile/oxfo...
- Nothing like watching some good ASML videos to relax, I have to say. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFsn...
- Still, at least wordsmith.org/anagram/anag... and bahn.de still work the same.
- That, uh, isn’t really that much money.

- Keir Starmer is going ahead tomorrow with his speech on community cohesion & national renewal: this includes announcing extending the Pride in Place programme to 40 more places. Sky News reports some of the themes of his speech, released to the media news.sky.com/story/sir-ke...
- I do find it amazing how often I hear people dismissing LLMs* with phrases like “stochastic parrot” or “just says the next most likely word” (i.e. confusing with a Markov chain generator) or “sparkling linear algebra” (confusing with ML techniques). *which, to be clear, ARE garbage
- I enjoyed trying to convince the coiner of the term "stochastic parrots" that this isn't an apt label for LLMs. You can watch here or listen on the @nonzeronews.bsky.social podcast. I think you'll agree that I was fighting an uphill battle. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwfS...
- I haven’t watched the video, I just used the post as a jumping off point for my hearty reckon.
- Do people use Wandrer for logging all the routes through an area? Is it still working*? What app/device do you use to create the logs for it? How active is it? *I'm having problems getting a password reset, and don't want to bother anyone if I'm not going to use it.
- Tesco Express could fix New York
- I see I selected the Scots grammar checker.
- Broadly the same for the EU/EEA/UK, too
- I have a suggestion for a full room and board option for him with the opportunity to earn and spend up to £15 a week. All on the public purse, too. There’s a bit of a “trial” period involved, but from what I’ve seen I think he should get accepted by His Majesty with no problems.
- there's a lot in this piece but the Mandelson email about angling for some kind of job at JP Morgan because 'i do not want to live by salary alone' just exemplifies everything people hate about politicians, the City, and revolving doors between the two www.ft.com/content/91e8...
