The Volts episode was very good and I think this is a useful wrapper for a lot of bad faith arguments, but I think it's hard to catalogue them precisely because it's a shifting rhetorical position used to indirectly criticize any current left policy goals and / or movements.

Agree. I also suspect it partakes of an implicit background of assumed liberal hegemony, one that makes real proximate threats (ironically) disappear. Only minor & insignificant ones are legible when serious ones are by definition excluded from possibility
