I genuinely believe that the most important thing a rich person can do for the betterment of the world is to buy newspapers then put it in a large nonprofit fund that they can't control.
The problem, of course, is that the billionaire class is not interested in improving humanity.
In 2016, the Philadelphia Inquirer, emerging from a messy bankruptcy, was acquired by Lenfest and donated to a nonprofit community trust. The Graham family, meanwhile, sold the Post to the richest man in the world.
