It just cost me $41 to mail 10 signed bookplates and 10 postcards to a bookseller in the UK. What is wrong with America.
For reference, I went across the street to buy dim sum, enough for two people, which cost $33.

Lol. Definitely not top 5! Or even top 100. But still, a sign of how unlivable this country is becoming when it cannot provide even basic services economically.
The UK went through a period of privatisation of public services. It didn’t work. We have come to realise that efficient and cheap services are the foundation of an economy; healthcare, utilities, public transport… look at the Swiss, they don’t have private companies running trains!
