- 4. As far as the first WIP goes, the locales aren't in the mountains as most of them are near the sea, but Temena is a city surrounded by hills. The most important one isn't named, but it is home to the Sokomoi, who are essentially the in-world priests of Dionysus. 🧵 #FebruaryWorldbuilders #writesky
- #FebruaryWorldbuilders, let's talk some specific geographical features for a few days now. Is there a mountain in your world? What is it like? What sort of minerals or gemstones can be found there? Anything interesting going on there?
- 4. Their temple, built by the Ancients and woven with Sokomos' magic to be almost more forest than construct, it is made of he stone of the hill and the roots of its mighty trees. As in grown rather than built. The whole hill is sacred to Sokomos and not part of the city proper. Sort of like a-- 🧵
- 4. Archyne Vatican City in some ways. Sokomos never really melded into human society, so the hill is essentially his own demesne, where the laws of magic and physics don't follow the usual path. The hill is also, because of its independent status, not beholden to most laws. Sokomos being a-- 🧵

They believe truth is to be found in the shedding of identity and untethering one's self from reality. (aka Tons of drugs in their magic. Pretty much all drugs, really. They're fun.) /fin
- 4. There aren't really any terms I've come up with in a dictionary sense. For Rei, magic is as simple as reaching for her dagger, whether physically or spiritually. She can sense it. Some people use chanting to focus their wills, but the words aren't necessary. Just will. #Febchantment #writesky
- #Febchantment Day 4 Vocab time! Tell us about some important terms we need to know to understand your magic system. Obviously, make sure you include the definitions! 😁 As usual, interpret the prompt however makes sense to you! Don't feel limited only to conlang words. #writingcommunity #writesky
- Rei wouldn't pick up. She probably wouldn't pick up if *anyone* called. The phone is on silent at all times, and she doesn't even notice it ringing when it does. She'd check, notice someone called, and maybe message if it's someone she wants to talk to. #AwesomeCharacters #writingcommunity #writesky
- Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters Silly hypothetical! How would your character handle a scam call? Trustingly give up their credit card number? Just hang up? Keep them talking and waste their time? Lure them into an elaborate trap for daring? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
- Having tons of personal experience with panic attacks made writing Emma's one of the easier parts of this project. Beren's response is based on the excellence of the friends in my life who've gotten me through them. #WIPSnips #writingcommunity #writesky
- I think so much of Rei's story is her discovering who she is that, by the end, the reader will know her at least as well as she knows herself. Whether that's everything depends on if a person can ever be fully known even unto themselves. #AwesomeCharacters #writingcommunity #writesky
- Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters How well do you think people will know your character by the end of their story? Will they understand everything about them? Or is there an air of mystery around them still? Or maybe they change significantly? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
- 3. I have the vague outline of a map that I drew about a year ago before I added about a gazillion more parts to the world. Yes, I know it looks like Europe. That's the inspiration. But I've added a ton more since then. #FebruaryWorldbuilders #writingcommunity #writesky
- 3. The central concept of magic on Getaera is will power. In order to access power, whether it be their own or a shared pool of the faithful, a person needs to learn specific visualization and expression techniques. It basically amounts to imposing one's will on nature. #Febchantment #writesky
- #Febchantment Day 3 What is the central concept of your magic system? E.g. Elemental magic? Music magic? Name-based magic? Something else? (Note: this isn't the "source" of magic - that's Day 8!) If you already answered this previously, feel free to go into more detail! #writingcommunity #writesky
- 2. While Getaera is a planet (and one I'm still developing), each story focuses on a different area. I have two planned so far. The first is set in the Salbyssan, based on the Mediterranean in the 13th century. I just really like Venice and Constantinople. The 2nd--🧵 #FebruaryWorldbuilders #writesky
- #FebruaryWorldbuilders. What is the scope or size of your world, or the 'space' of the story you're writing? Does it take place on a planet? Across a galaxy? Perhaps you're only writing about one small country or even a city. Or perhaps you have many planets/worlds?
- 2. --planned story takes place in what used to be the North but is now more the Central-ish, in an area based on Denmark, the Netherlands, and Finland-meets-Forest of Witches. That one is less developed but was initially inspired by the Snow Queen. Plus a vaguely steampunk Netherlands. Bc why not? 🧵
- 2. In developing the first story, I realized I wanted to know more about the Sarqani, who are based on the tribes of the Eurasian Steppe. Sarqani is a catch-all name used in the west, which I always knew, but I really didn't want to fall into the trap of "barbarian hordes", so I knew I needed to--🧵

- To be honest, the Praesor isn't on the page much until, like, book three. But she's definitely pulling the strings. The expedition has a mole in it--one whose job is to eliminate Rei. And while the Praesor will be no one's favorite, the mole is extremely likable. #AwesomeCharacters #writesky
- Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters Antagonist day! Are they likeable? Would it surprise you if your antagonist was someone's favorite character? Were they written to be cathartically hateable? Sympathetic but flawed? Somewhere in between? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
- 2. Geteara has a... mushy magic system? Like, magic is limited by affiliation to a god, even when the affiliation isn't terribly obvious (like Uskon or Lumivuora), but the hows aren't always specific. A lot of it is intention/will, like prayer made manifest. #Febchantment #writingcommunity #writesky
- #Febchantment Day 2 Do you have a "hard" or "soft" magic system? In other words, does your magic system have strictly defined rules (think: Brandon Sanderson's books)? Or is it more undefined, mostly vibes/rule of cool (think: Gandalf from LOTR)? Somewhere in between? #writingcommunity #writesky
