- Yesterday's games:
- Tampa defence this year is really something.
- Artemiy Panarin (traded to Los Angeles) is an extremely strong forward, especially offensively. Generation at 5v5, at 5v4, setting, finishing, drawing penalties, keeping his team out of the box, the works. An exceptional player.
- I'm assuming that the extremely feeble return (a third and Liam Greentree, to whom no offence is meant) is because the Kings weren't able to make a deal to extend him, but even as a pure rental that is cheap as.
- Scratch that thought, he extended with them at 2x11m. That is exceptionally friendly to the Kings, I guess.
- Panarin's career development is a bit weird. For him to be still improving at 34 is curious, and I don't understand that hideous stretch in 20-21 and especially 21-22. Does that line up with some old troubles in Russia that I only dimly remember?

- Nick Bjugstad (traded to the Devils) is a fourth-liner.
- When folks say that a goalie is giving their team a chance to win, I would enjoy someone following up with "how much of a chance is that, in fact?".
- Six games into his stint with Ottawa this year, James Reimer has performed as well as or better than a league average goaltender once.
- To be scrupulous I should note that raw G vs xG tallies are also affected by finishing talent, which is more diffuse than goaltending talent (structurally), but definitely non-trivial. All of Ottawa's opponents in Reimer's games are below-average finishers on the season, except Colorado.
- Solidarity with every journalist being laid off today, especially folks who work in sports or viz. What a shame.
- That would be Jordan "dead-eye" Staal picking that corner above Reimer's shoulder.
- TSN broadcast mentioning how much Green trusts Amadio and it's especially true when the sens have something to defend.
- a) the hurricanes defence is as good as you heard, or maybe better, but also b) Jesus Murphy that face
