- A good story for gloomy times: On Monday baby Sea Otter-970 'Caterpillar' was observed vocalizing alone in Morro Bay for half an hour. The Marine Mammal Center team transferred the pup to a carrier and went out with Morro Bay Harbor Patrol on their boat to search for a mom. cont'd...
- The team took a recording of the pup vocalizing to play on a Bluetooth speaker as the pups often get tired and stop vocalizing. After about two hours of searching, a female kept following and approaching the boat repeatedly. (cont'd)
- The team placed the pup down in the water and the mom came and grabbed it and started swimming with it. The team followed/watched them for the next hour to be sure that things were okay. Video here: drive.google.com/file/d/1ocAq...
