Mostly mom commentary with a side of Mennonite Pastor things. Hobby potter. Mixed: Chinese/Scottish | Treaty 1 land inhabitant | she/her
- So you’re saying I’M the weird one for bringing theology reads on a Thermea spa day? To each their own I guess.
- I just got an email with the opening greeting “Hello my ADHD-sistah in Christ” and I am now dreaming up a new tattoo.
- “Mom, I love your love.” -the 3 year old 🥹🥹🥹
- Gutted. www.cbc.ca/news/enterta...
- Reposted by Janessa Nayler-GiesbrechtI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free
- So many folks at my church are wondering what they can do in the world right now. I wrote a bit about that here: janessaallison.wordpress.com/2026/01/27/t...
- Sample of lyrics from my toddlers lullaby song he made up tonight: “I wish I may catch a star, I love my mom, Caufield Canadians, I wish I catch a star I wish I mayyyy… Be likedddddd” 🎶
- A poem for you (and me).
- There is not a dollar amount in the world that I could be promised that would make me choose to live in the US at present.
- You know your partner had a wild day at work when you google “is it a full moon?” after he tells you about it.
- The world is pretty scary right now but also my 3-year-old and I stopped our walk to listen to birds this morning.
- DOUBLE MONTREAL OT WINS THIS AFTERNOON!!!! #canadiens #victoire
- Ending this year just like I started it - snuggling a fevered kiddo to sleep. The in between was pretty good though! Happy new year to all!
- Top song of 2025 for me: Heavy Foot by Mon Rovía
- I’m going to put the kids to bed at 9 pm tomorrow and then stay up until midnight cleaning so that at 12:01 am I can say “my house has been clean all year so far” and enjoy that bliss.
- Reading “Nothing Will Save Us” by my pal @davidcldriedger.bsky.social - I haven’t even made it to the end of the introduction and I’ve got books to buy and a list of loved quotes. This book is promising from the start (no pressure for the rest David).
- I don’t know if I’ve ever fallen in love with a musical artist as fast as Mon Rovía. Every single song is absolutely perfect, no notes.
- Reposted by Janessa Nayler-GiesbrechtO come, O Bright and Morning Star, and bring us comfort from afar! Dispel the shadows of the night and turn our darkness into light.
- Amidst talks of “the word of the year” among dictionaries, I can’t help but recognize the two words that stand out for opposite reasons: 1. “Fascism” for its shockingly frequent and accurate usage, and 2. “Ceasefire” for its equally shockingly INaccurate usage. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy.
- I’m just a pastor, Looking at an online database of usable images, Asking it to give her just ONE racially accurate depiction of Mary and Jesus.
- Snow day art.
- Reposted by Janessa Nayler-GiesbrechtWinnipeg's getting whipped around by a blizzard Thursday, reducing visibility and clogging streets. Blizzard ends this morning, but wind still gusts N 60-80, easing this afternoon. Temperature falls to minus 22. Risk of frostbite 🥶 #cbcmb
- “Yup, that’s a wizard alright.” -Small son (3.5) as we look out the window at the blizzard
- Reposted by Janessa Nayler-GiesbrechtIf anyone has to travel in the province tomorrow, make sure you check www.manitoba511.ca for the latest road conditions. Stay safe everyone!
- Let’s go VICTOIREEEEE #pwhl #montrealvictoire
- Reposted by Janessa Nayler-GiesbrechtWe sing O Come O Come Emmanuel’s chorus, “Rejoice, rejoice” in a minor key. And to me, this sums up so much about Advent.
- About to conquer a fear: exercising at a gym with other people. Wish me luck.
- MY MOM JUST DID THE CUTEST PATCH FOR MY JEANS EVERRRRRRR
- I just heard that Manitoba is going to be selling off the back stock of US liquor until Christmas, giving proceeds to the Cheer Boards in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Thompson - essentially dealing with the dormant product we’d already paid for in a way that benefits us locally. Genius idea.
- Kudos to Nova Scotia for coming up with the idea, Ace Burpee and co for talking about the potential in Manitoba, and the MB NDP for jumping at it.
- It’s officially Sia Christmas album o’clock!
- Watching my kiddo’s little hand reaching out of the car window trying to catch the first snowflakes is just pure magic. ❄️
- The latest in 3 year old comedy: Knock knock! Who’s there? Poop! Poop who? Poop we flushed him down the toilet and made him from one into two and it mixed him up and then they turn into a superhero!
- Small son (3.5) changed daycares in October and it’s been really rough dropping him off. Well, after a lot of work and incentives he has had for amazing drop off days and today he even turned around and wished me a good day with a big smile. 🥹
- About last night…
- What I’ll say at the end of this day though: the gift my boys gave me today was knowing deeply how much they love me and find me comforting. 🧡
- Before kids, my November birthday was pretty chill. After kids it is walk in clinics and fevers to manage. Love them forever and happily do it, but oof. Oh and by the way I’m 39 today.

- I’m sorry, but the walk in clinic is playing NSYNC’s bye bye bye and Toto’s Africa back to back and I’m not sure how they expect us all to not sing and therefore share all the viruses in this room. Irresponsible tbh.
- Can Ms. Rachel be president over there? I think that would be for the best.
- 10 minutes after I woke up I remembered the Blue Jays lost. It was a nice 10 minutes.
- I’m like, really sad for me but honestly maybe even more sad for Eugene Levy. I don’t want him to be sad ever.
