- True story on Netflix of the world's no 1 of women's chess contrasting with the fictional Queens Gambit. Fascinating account with her father's determination to turn his daughters into genius's to her match against the greatest player Kasparov where, when making a blunder, incredibly he cheated.

- Watched agin the Netflix programme on the Webb space telescope with its many opportunities for failure. Such an incredible achievement that verged on the impossible. Now we can see the vast number of celestial objects in such stunning detail and if, people of faith, give glory to God.
- The #pars are home in the Scottish Cup looking for a win to take us into the quarter finals. The opposition is lower league Kelty Hearts so neutrals expect us to win comfortably. However our fans will tell you that this is when we are capable of messing things up. Hopefully not tomorrow.

- Reposted by Peter LloydThe UK Government has announced the biggest overhaul to the immigration system in 50 years, making it harder for people to settle in the UK. - The #pars meet Airdrie tomorrow in league action. Previous games this season have resulted in Dunfermline victories including a wonder goal by John Tod. Airdrie under new management are fighting to move up the league so expecting a tough match.
- Disappointing match for the #pars - lost a bad goal as our goalkeeper who has been playing well fumbled a weak free kick leading to the first goal and that allowed Airdrie to take control of the game which they won comfortably 2-0.

- One thing I hate about party politics is when politicians speak against good ideas simply because they come from their opponents and they do not want them to get the credit for their success. Everyone knows that the Scottish child payments contribute to reducing poverty and is money well spent.

- "The 5-week wait remains a design flaw in UC." How difficult would it be to get this reduced to say two weeks? That would remove many of the problems that result from the delay in getting the money to those who end up coming to our foodbanks. @trussellscot.bsky.social @cyrenians.bsky.social
- 🧵 NEW: Our report 'Listen and learn' sets out how the Government should improve Universal Credit (UC) for the 15 million people who rely on it. 13 years after its roll-out began, it’s time to get UC right. We've co-produced recommendations with @changingrealities.bsky.social participants 👇

- Reposted by Peter LloydToday on #HolocaustMemorialDay we remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust & in the more recent genocides around the world. We must learn from the past. - This should be the UK government's number one priority when setting taxes or increasing spending in other areas.
- Poverty is deepening. 🔎 Our #UKPoverty2026 report was launched this morning. People in very deep poverty now make up the biggest group of people in poverty, at 6.8 million people. This is unacceptable for the fifth richest country in the world, and it has consequences.
- People across the world are marking Holocaust Memorial Day. Rt Rev Rosie Frew, Moderator of the General Assembly, Church of Scotland, has written a personal reflection and a prayer for people persecuted on the basis of race, religion or nationality, as we pause to remember all victims of genocide.
