- Reposted by MSmithamWe have to classify, X, Facebook and the rest of the tech platforms as ”publishers“, legally responsible for everything that appears. It’s unnaceptable that they hide behind their users & use the “nothing to do with me, guv” defence. They make untold billions. It’s up to THEM to police their sites

- Reposted by MSmithamWe are pleased to see this from Ofcom www.ofcom.org.uk/online-safet.... However, it appears to have a main or exclusive focus on CSAM and there is a wide variety of other illegal content which X, in breach of its duties under the Online Safety Act, has failed to remove.
- Reposted by MSmithamGrok has not "turned off" its CSAM generator for anyone - it has simply put it behind a paywall. Stop uncritically repeating the narratives of tech companies.

- Reposted by MSmithamI’m not sure “there’s nothing we can do about the sexual abuse image factory ask OfCom” is going to hold much water as a line taken by a government which (a) has a huge majority (b) just passed legislation to regulate what people can access online
- Reposted by MSmithamI am extremely confused as to why the UK government and police are saying Grok’s mass-scale CSAM generation is an issue for Ofcom. This isn’t about X failing to moderate CSAM, which is an Online Safety Act issue. It is about the company and its technology being actively involved in its generation.

- Reposted by MSmithamLetter to the FT that stingingly sums up Brexit and the shit creek we now find ourselves in. A terrible idea (naive, prejudiced and uninformed) that has deeply divided us and left us poorer and less secure… but unwilling to face up to the damage we’ve done to ourselves. While the EU moves on.
- I've just seen an ITV3 advert for a charity to save big cats from abuse? I never watch terrestrial TV normally so this has come as a shock. The idea that there are thousands of these I could save by just subscribing for a small amount per month is... suspicious? Is anyone regulating this stuff?
