- 1/ READY TO STRIKE: More than 80% of our members signed a pledge saying we are prepared to strike unless @propublica.org agrees to a fair contract. www.propublicaguild.org/updates/the-...
- 2/ Investigative journalism with a moral force is a public service that we take seriously, and we need a strong contract to do our jobs effectively. We’re fighting for job security, a fair disciplinary process, wages that reflect the value of our work and clear guardrails around AI.
- 3/ After more than two years of bargaining, our pledge makes clear that we are committed to doing what it takes to win the contract we deserve.

- 1/ We are entering year 3 of bargaining for a fair contract that protects both the workers who produce our award-winning, high-impact journalism as well as the quality of that work. We are also entering year 3 of @propublica.org management fighting against a fair contract. tinyurl.com/43znke28
- 2/ Management has rejected a straightforward Just Cause proposal similar to the ones found at The New York Times, Reuters and Los Angeles Times. This proposal would make our journalism even stronger by empowering employees to speak up without fear of retribution.
- 3/ Management has rejected basic layoff protections, including the use of seniority, which is a nearly universal element of union contracts that ensures layoffs cannot be used to target specific workers.

- Today, we had an all-day bargaining session with @propublica.org management. Unfortunately, they did not bring a counter proposal on AI or agree to any of the guardrails we've proposed.
- It's simple — @propublica.org workers should not be replaced by artificial intelligence. Our contract proposal specifically says that generative artificial intelligence ("GAI") should not be used to replace employees. Management struck out this entire section in their response to our proposal.

- Today, unionized nonprofit newsrooms across the country are standing shoulder-to-shoulder to demand that news industry leaders agree to common-sense guardrails around the implementation of artificial intelligence to protect the integrity, quality and accuracy of our journalism.
- For-profit media companies have already haphazardly rolled out deeply flawed AI tools that are publishing inaccurate articles and killing jobs in the journalism industry. Nonprofit outlets can and must do better to preserve trust in news.
- We are publishing an open letter laying out our demands: Workers maintain the power to choose when AI is a useful tool, no layoffs as a result of AI, transparency when AI is used in the newsgathering or writing process and a ban on giving away our work to train AI to replace us.

- It's simple — @propublica.org workers should not be replaced by artificial intelligence. Our contract proposal specifically says that generative artificial intelligence ("GAI") should not be used to replace employees. Management struck out this entire section in their response to our proposal.
- Additionally, management struck out: 1️⃣ Language that would prevent GAI from producing editorial work 2️⃣ A requirement that AI-generated content be clearly labeled and reviewed by human editors
- There's no excuse for ProPublica's position on this issue. We need a fair contract, with real job security and GAI guardrails, now!
