- Emu got an upgrade. Wasn’t happy with the shapes or proportions. I think this one hits a nicer balance of both. #characterdesign #emu #bird #illustration #kidlitart
- The full enchilada. #characterdesign #dogs
- The argument. #characterdesign #dogs
- Selfie with friend. #kidlitart #illustration
- This year’s Christmas card is off to the printers… #illustration
- I got antsy to start blocking in color. I’ll finish sketching details a bit later. #kidlitart #illustration
- A proposal… #kidlitart #illustration
- Note to self…
- Haven’t done tight perspective work in a while… #kidlitart
- Starting’ somethin’… #kidlitart
- Enjoying the evenings as fall gets closer…
- Another of my DnD character commission sample pieces. She was born into a family of fighters but loved pretty things. She tried to leave the violence behind but a girl’s gotta make a living. #dndcommission #dndart #dungeonsanddragons #illustration
- I’ve been toying with the idea of D&D character commission for some time. Knocking around ideas, stylistic choices, logistics, etc. thought I’d share a quick test piece. It’s only one piece but I have more in the works. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. #dndcommission #commissionart
- I have a collection of cookbooks from the 1950s and ‘60s. Tons of amazing mid-century illustration! I’m working on a piece for a project put together by the team at @painted.words and couldn’t resist trying my hand at the look of that era. Ciao! #italianfood #recipe #illustration #midcentury
- Exciting news! School Library Journal gave MURRAY’S HOWL-O-WEEN a starred review! It’s out in time for Halloween and you can get it at your favorite bookstore! I can’t wait for you to read it.

- Can’t wait to see David Corenswet in Superman! After so much grim-dark, it’s so exciting to see an unapologetic embrace of everything that makes Superman *Superman*: hope, bright colors, shameless goodness. The Last Son of Krypton. Did this piece many years ago. Still love it.
- So Murray’s new adventure is out in the wild! Murray is a metropolitan mutt on his first trip to the county and his first wet-nose-to-nose encounter with Halloween. The sights! The smells! The spooks! He’s not diggin’ it. ➡Check the Books link in my bio. #Murraysaysboo #howlyeah
- I have a hard time resisting the urge to experiment. I've done vector work, watercolor, highly rendered pieces, and more simplified, abstract work. These three pieces are character designs I did for some D&D players. I developed this style over time and might revisit it again someday. #dnd
- Several more piece completed some time ago. The first piece was completed as sample work for a client project sadly cancelled. The remaining three are from a retelling of Hansel and Gretel from the witch’s POV. #kidlitart
- Something from a long while back. I may take this up again in future. #kidlitart
- I’ll sit at a cafe table in a local Whole Foods and use fellow patrons as jumping off points for character sketches. Here’s a few from my sketchbook… #sketchbook
- Pieces for a recent client project. Kinda love the line work on these. 🤓 #kidlitart
- Happy #kidlitpostcard day! I was inspired after reading Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. More of a vibe than a literal interpretation. The girl is based on the earphone bicycle kid from E.T. The Extraterrestrial.
