- The picture is the only verified portrait of Hugh O'Neill. The portrait is part of a larger fresco in the Sala Paolina in the Vatican, painted around 1608–1610 by Giovanni Battista Ricci. It depicts a canonization ceremony of Francesca de Rome, which O'Neill attended in 1608.
