- I’ve been working on the California nebula for the last few days. I’ve reprocessed it a couple times now and like this version but I feel like there’s more I could do for the data. So I’m gonna keep working on it here and there… eventually. #photography #astrophotography
- I came back and reprocessed it again. The results are pretty close to last time but there are some subtle differences throughout. I spent more time bringing out the blues that reach up from the main body and I spent less on suppressing the green. Which do you prefer? #astrophotography #photography
- Since I'm spending my NYE reprocessing data from earlier this year, here's another one that I felt like playing with. NGC 1333 is such a cool target, I really like the complex dust clouds. I'll link to my original below. Let me know which one you like more. #astrophotography #photography
- And here's the original: bsky.app/profile/mapl...
- NGC 1333 is such a dirty, dusty area and I love looking at it. This a first pass on the data but damn it’s got such cool areas of detail in it. I’ll probably do a couple more tweaks and brighten the dusty bits compared to the background. So more of this coming soon. #astrophotography #photography
- I wanted to try out that MultiscaleAdaptiveStretch tool in PixInsight and since I was already redoing my Flying Bat and Squid nebula shot and figured I'd give it a go on that data. Honestly, this version just butters my biscuit. #astrophotography #photography
- Well I guess I'm out of commission astrophotography-wise for a while. My camera decided that it was time to develop the infamous thermal grease oil leak problem. So now I have to wait for the RMA process with ZWO.
- The camera's back from ZWO but the weather down at Starfront has been ass for the last few nights so I'm still waiting to see if we're back up and running. I've got a few nights worth of data to reshoot whenever I can verify that it all works.
- We're back online! Time to hurry up and shoot some of those winter targets.

- I be been working on processing a 4 panel mosaic of the tadpoles and the flaming star nebulae. The colors are giving me a bit of a fight but here’s where I’m at so far. First off we’ve got a tight crop of the two main targets. #astrophotography #photography #nebula #space
- A bit of the region just “under” the tadpoles. I’m not sure if any of the objects here have special names but it’s certainly an interesting area. #astrophotography #photography #nebula #space
- I need to rescale the full mosaic for Bluesky, the file size is just too big and it’ll get compressed to shit. I’ll try to do that later on.

- So before I go back and change the contrast and color mapping, here are some crops and areas that I wanted to feature. So we've got the NGC 1333 core, LBN 734, CED13, and then some fluffy bits of cloud whose name I couldn't find. #astrophotography #photography
- Here's a quick pass I made at some data for the "Ghost of Cassiopeia". This is just shy of 40 hours of data and damn that star is BRIGHT. I'm going to spend some more time with it and see if I can't tease out some more contrast in some places but it was a fun one. #astrophotography #photography
- Still waiting on the moon to get out of the way so I can continue collecting data on any of my 4 current projects, so have a cropped in, slightly rotated, and slightly color boosted version of the Ghost. #astrophotography #photography
- Here's the Garlic (aka Medulla) nebula in all of its glory. This is a very dim target. I collected about 53 hours of data with 38 of that being spent on the hydrogen. I don't normally post the starless versions of my images but it was just too good not to include. #astrophotography #photography
- I revisited this image to add a bit more contrast and reduce the star presence a bit. It’s a subtle change but I definitely like the additional presence of the nebula in this one compared to my original. #astrophotography #photography

- A couple pics from a recent hike in the woods in the Snoqualmie National Forest. #photography
- Happy spooky day! I don't have any Halloween costume pics, but how about a shot of the Pleiades? I've always wanted to shoot this and am thrilled to finally add it to my portfolio. I shot this over 4 nights and ended up with 7 hours of data for each LRGB channel. #astrophotography #photography
- I got laid off recently and my termination date is in a couple days. I’ve been reflecting recently on the experience and overall the emotion that I am feeling the most is relief. I was so stressed and tired at the end. I’ve been recovering a bit from the burnout and remembering how to enjoy life.
- Now I’m at the point where I need to decide what comes next. I don’t think I’ll dive back into big tech. I’ve thought about startups or something like that, but it could also be time for me to go back to school and get a masters.
- I’m thinking that physics or some form of engineering could be fun. I’d like to position myself so it’d be easy to get into some space related field whenever I’m done. Does anyone have recommendations on programs that I should maybe take a look at given my background in software (c++)?
- I had some fun with the Heart nebula. It's always a stunner and I love working on it. I started with the traditional SHO palette and then just tweaked it until I got something that felt right. All totaled up I think this was between 45 and 50 hours of data. #astrophotography #photography
