- Day 5 of #StandaloneSingles (reverse chronological order) In Mind - Slowdive 5 EP 1993 Lead track from a lesser known EP, released just a few months after Souvlaki and hinted at their change in direction towards Pygmalion another 18 months later. I love the Reload remix even more (remix EP).
- Day 4 of #StandaloneSingles (reverse chronological order) T.C.R. - Prolapse single 1995 (big jump from 2018 as struggled to identify any singles that I’d bought in that period, but lots in the early 90s) One of Prolapse’s many singles, this one in between the first two albums.
- Positive that the days are lengthening by as much as they do all year. Bring us more sunlight! 🌞
- Here in the UK it is cold and wet but there is at least the positive that the days are getting longer quite rapidly now. At 51 degrees north where I live we will gain an extra 24 minutes of daylight this week as this #dataviz shows.

- Day 3 of #StandaloneSingles (reverse chronological order) The Room - Purple Heart Parade Lonestar EP 2018 Rumours of an album being recorded for years, we’re still desperately waiting, and have to make do with a couple of brilliant EPs and rare live experiences. The sound of early Verve.

- Day 2 of #StandaloneSingles (reverse chronological order) Another Year - Epic 45 single 2021 Released with little fanfare but this is a really great little song and features Babybird on vocals, although still with the typical Epic45 beauty.

- Day 1 of #StandaloneSingles (reverse chronological order) Port - bdrmm single 2021 Released as they started playing live post-Covid, bass heavy but wonderful, also closes their live sets. But not on any of their 3 studio albums.
- A 10-0 win today, against 11-man Belper (they claimed lots of missing players), so we’re through to the National Quarter Finals (for men aged 55* or over). And, perhaps more joyous, I managed to score a goal, even though I play in defence. *on 31/12/26, I’m still 54 as of now 😉

- First normal gig of the year for Winter Gardens in Blackpool at the Wint….no at the Bootleg Social. They’re a shoegaze band, although with a gothic tinge and two lead female vocalists. However, unusually for a shoegaze band they have a very energetic guitarist, as witnessed at Rockaway Beach 👇
- 2-2 draw in today’s top of the league clash. 🏑 Frustrating as we went 1-0 up, had more attacks and would consider ourselves the better team. However we were 2-1 down with less than 10 minutes left, so pleased we came back with an equalizer. Now next week’s game will become a must win to claim 2nd.
- 1. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus single, 1979 9 mins #70sTop30 An absolute classic and my entry point to goth & alternative music, through my older brother. I actually prefer this live version from Press The Eject, as this was the version I fell in love with. Possibly my favourite song of all time.
- Realised I was a day behind with my top 5 so posting another today with my final one tomorrow. 2. I Feel Love - Donna Summer 12" single 1977 8 mins #70sTop30 A dance record it was ok to like (when young and those things seemed to matter), with those infectious Moroder beats. So influential.
