Alys Wilfred Earl
Writer, aesthete, reprobate.
Writes as A W Earl (and, previously, Alys Earl) but you can call me Fred.
Has sword, will travel. They/them.
- Ah yes, my usual post socialising freakout.
- Came back from the charity with a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes, the entire ITV Poirot on DVD, and two small pottery owls.
- They’d just put that crime fiction display together, I feel very bad about it. But in recompense, I did keep my hands off the hardback Christies, or the Miss Marple box set.
- Huh, #SurprisePaulMcGann - not had one of those in a while…
- @muninnherself.bsky.social what’s the pattern you collect?
- Although that said, writing about a woman who lived through the actual literal Black Death, her city being occupied by both the Peasant’s Revolt and the force that crushed them, and the persecution of the Lollards, yet wrote some of the most affecting theology about how mankind is essentially good…
- … just sayin’
- The depressing reality that I would have made a really good Anglican vicar, if it weren’t for the… *gestures*
- Category three “Fred yells at everyone about the fucking fridge.” But SERIOUSLY. Five packs of carrots, four open, the fifth brought up today because, “I don’t think there are any in there.”
- This is why I hate having chronic fatigue most of all. Because everyone else in my life! Has ADHD! And when I am off my usual duties! Shit like this happens! (Did you check did you look did you actually open the fridge and look in the vegetable drawer before deciding there were no carrots in it?)
- By February, you have no idea how much of my mental health is pinned on the crocuses. Looking at photos from last March like… “surely not that long? Surely not so far away…?”
- Writing what is likely quite a bad poem about Julian of Norwich.
- Is it possible to write a good poem about Julian of Norwich?
- Annoying myself a lot because most people - rather than taking her seriously as a theologian - mainly focus on the smooshy stuff, and yet here I am! Focusing on the smooshy stuff!

- I think we can all agree that rain… should not rattle.
- Oooh, I’m actually here for #GardensHour and to sum up February in a word… SLUGS! Namely the prevention and management thereof, so that I actually get to have things like snowdrops, crocuses and aconite…
