- This is exactly the wrong way for Congress and the media to frame the #AbolishIce discussion. ICE has nothing to do w/ border security at this point and indistinguishable from the Gestapo. ICE is committing the crimes, not stopping them.

- I was in WaPo’s Contributor Network—their group of freelancers under contract—for eight years and for six of those, I worked w/ the greatest editor I ever had. Then in 2022, things started going haywire and the editor who took her place literally didn’t know how to fact-check. All of it is grim.
- WaPo still had fact-checkers then—I’ve no idea if any of them survived this latest bloodbath, everyone I knew there left awhile ago—but it’s hard to overstate how dangerous it is to hire a major editor who doesn’t understand fact-checking.
