Neighbours hiding minority children from uniformed government thugs in service to a nativist agenda is bad enough. I'm sure Anne would have preferred people spoke up BEFORE the Nazis got to the death camps stage.
- Reposted by Jasper JacksonThe BBC coverage is absolutely terrible. It leads on "sharply contested narratives" It has a dramatic skew to the US government It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

- Reposted by Jasper JacksonI'm seeing people mistakenly claim the gun photo was posted before today, but its just how Google sometimes dates images based on the original date of the thread its posted in, not when it was posted. The photo was posted an hour ago in this 5 day old thread www.reddit.com/r/fivethirty...
- Reposted by Jasper Jacksoni suppose it makes sense but it is completely demoralizing that we live in a moment where there is more video/photographic evidence (often from multiple angles) than ever before and also a durable system in place for propagandists to gaslight or convince others into not believing their eyes

- Reposted by Jasper JacksonIt's so exhausting to to be constantly told by American leaders that the defining policy of the 80 odd years during which the US became the most wealthy and powerful country in the history of the world was a grossly unfair failure for them.

- Reposted by Jasper JacksonWe're now seeing headlines that claim X is blocking Grok from complying with requests to undress and sexualize women. - Reposted by Jasper JacksonFinding the reactions to this bleakly funny. Lads, the point isn’t that you are sending enough people to “win”, because we in fact, can’t win. It is just to have a tripwire! If you are going “why not 13, like Germany?” you have not understood how bad things are.
- Reposted by Jasper JacksonMuch higher than the estimate death toll in the 2022 protests, and probably the bloodiest crackdown in the Islamic Republic's history, if you exclude the murder of political prisoners in jails in the 1980s.

- So much interesting in this (and good work on @caseynewton.bsky.social documenting it). One thing to note though, Google's watermarking identified the image of the badge as created by its AI tool. Other image generators haven't bothered implementing anything similar, why? (Looking at you, Sora.)

- Reposted by Jasper JacksonNo one in government seems to want to invest in a comprehensive programme to understand the prevalence and impact of notionally bad content online. Until they do that, so much policy is vibes.
- Reposted by Jasper JacksonA small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty: My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. Farage would then point into the distance and tell Bankole ”that’s the way back to Africa”.
