- Reposted by tyrell haberkornOur founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.
- Reposted by tyrell haberkornIf Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff. Democracy dies in oligarchy.

- Reposted by tyrell haberkornThis isn't about "training issues." The murderer who executed Renee Good has been with ICE for 10 years, and according to DHS, the murderer who executed Alex Pretti has been there for 8 years. These aren't "new recruits," or officers that can be "retrained." ICE can't be reformed. Abolish ICE.

- Reposted by tyrell haberkornWe have to see the logic of the killings as well as the killings themselves. The horror is a truth in itself. But it is also a sign of a political logic, one known from the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century. snyder.substack.com/p/lies-and-l...
- Reposted by tyrell haberkornThe killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
- Reposted by tyrell haberkornAs tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today. ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

- AOC: “What we are seeing here is a momentous pivotal moment for the United States.” Precisely. This a moment where Donald Trump, Kristi Noem and others who hold power appear to have chosen state violence, obfuscation and impunity.

- Reposted by tyrell haberkornWhistleblowers just shared a memo showing DHS instructing ICE to force their way into peoples' houses without a proper warrant. Why is this not on all the networks right now? This is a criminal conspiracy to violate rights under color of law.

- Reposted by tyrell haberkornIt would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face. If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.
