Kerry Kennedy
President of @kennedyhrc.bsky.social, lawyer and activist. Bestselling author, progressive Catholic, and lifelong feminist. Proud mom of three mighty women.
- (1/4) Nekima Levy Armstrong. A civil rights attorney. A pastor. A mother of four. Arrested and shackled in three-point restraints for protesting in Minneapolis, then publicly humiliated by her own government through an AI-doctored image.
- (2/4) Trump is no stranger to circulating artificial imagery, from portraying himself as a pilot dropping feces on New York protesters to masquerading as the Grim Reaper stalking the streets of Washington. Usually the intent is crude spectacle. But this was different.
- (3/4) This was the federal government manipulating an image of a Black woman to make her appear hysterical, tears streaming down her face, hair disheveled, crying out in despair. The reality? Nekima was poised. She walked calmly, her face resolute, and her head held high.
- (4/4) Our government is weaponizing technology to intimidate dissent, and it is doing so in plain sight from the highest office in the land. This is an embarrassment to this country and a disgrace to the office of the presidency.
- Sharing Congressman @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social's letter to Liam, the five-year-old boy kidnapped by ICE, with a very sweet mention of Daddy. Don’t let anyone tell you this isn’t your home, Liam.
- (1/3) As my dear friend @donlemonofficial.bsky.social knows, journalism is one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. Don is boots on the ground, bearing witness, asking hard questions, and risking his safety to hold our government accountable. That is courage. That is journalism.
- (2/3) Don was arrested despite a federal judge rejecting prosecutors’ bid to charge him last week. This is outrageous. Journalists face harassment, imprisonment, and death simply for doing their jobs. You don’t need a passport to find this out. Just ask Don Lemon.
- (3/3) Energy spent targeting reporters would be far better spent investigating the real issues, like the systemic injustices that brought people into the streets in the first place. Don must be released immediately.
- With Kennedy Human Rights Italia board member Donato Tramuto visiting the Mayor of Florence, she is showing us the book of visitors to her office. Here, she is showing us the signatures of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. Chilling to be so close to evil.
- Here I am announcing Kennedy Human Rights Italia’s new campaign to toss out people’s prejudices. We are proud to be working with the City of Florence and Alia Plures to throw away hate in garbage bins across the city. #comunedifirenze #throwawayprejudice
- (1/3) On the train from Milan to Florence this morning, I asked a fellow passenger what he thought about JD Vance’s plans to have ICE agents attend next week’s Olympic Games. His response was blunt:
- (2/3) “ICE has no place in Italy. Inviting a force that kills peaceful protesters in America to the Olympic Games is scandalous. Our country is being used to legitimize the murderers. We are embarrassed by what they are doing.”
- (3/3) Massive demonstrations are planned this Saturday on the streets of Milan, and people are making it clear: there is no place for ICE in Italy.
- Slava Ukraini!
